Is Sugarloaf the last eastern resort open?

Is Sugarloaf the only (lift served) place to ski on the east right now?

Jay is trying for this weekend, and Win said he'd see if they can open Sugarbush for one more weekend. But that's it afaik.

Jay posted they will open back up Sat and Sunday. I skied the loaf yesterday will about 20 others. Only place mid week. I'll be back on Friday to Sunday.

According to the e-mail today, yes.

6 trails, $39 lift tickets. Not my cup...

Seems like a little more then a week ago they were still at 122 trails. I plan to do a little exploring if I make it home within the next month or so.

BTW-

Sugarloaf picked up 6-8" of fresh last night. Those I've talked with who hustled up are having a blast.

Only SQ lift running for financial reasons - reopening a few extra trails for a count of 29 tomorrow.

On Saturday, your options are Sugarloaf (which never closed), Jay Peak, and Sugarbush. Sugarbush may operate on Sunday but won't announce until Saturday.

I was at Sugarbush last Saturday. Steins had great cover and was pretty bumped up. It was thin on the traverse getting there last week and there will be some walking to get back to the lift this week. There might still be a ribbon on Spring Fling with some patches where you have to walk.

Any guess on how many trails Jay will have open?

Stein's could be worth the drive. It's going to be a long summer

Have to agree a trip to Sugarbush would be worth the trip if only to ski Steins Run top to bottom..it's one kick ass bump run.
I used to make late season runs to K when only Superstar was open...and Steins is twice as good as Superstar in my opinion.

True, Sugarloaf is only eastern area now open midweek.

Kmart isn't what it used to be. Heck I once entered their free
May day Slalom on May 1st. Just entering got you one free
lift tix good any time the following year. They weren't even
open for that this year!

10 ski areas are open today in western US and 37 are open
worldwide.
Here is a Snowcountry USA link that displays worldwide OPEN areas only:
http://www.snocountry.com/snowclient...open&from=open

I find this link useful only for early or very late season when few ski
areas are open

That's a good one. Thanks.

But it missed Jay Peak, which will open the same weekend as Sugarbush.

I was at Sugarloaf last week and only rode the superquad and the runs were great (Sat in the sun, Sunday in the mist). If you are in the East and you want to get some good skiing in one last time I would say that it is definitely worth it. I drove 3+ hours from Boston and have no regrets.

Thinking about doing it again this weekend too! Go for it.

It was always the June 1 fun slalom! ASC renamed it about 3 years ago when they gave up on spring skiing.
'Bush is still open, and I'm thinking I may day trip it.

Man, 3 weeks off from skiing and I'm jonesing.....

They closed last weekend.

I watched them plow in the Gut 1/2 pipe on the webcam at lunch one day.

Just picked up on this thread. Was at the Bush last wednsday. 75 degrees, sunny, BBQ with the bar doors wide open, music, girls in shorts and low cut tops!!! Oh, and Stien, Ripcord, and the Organ Grinder had tons of cover and were BLAZING!!! Every turn sounded like water spray off the bow of a boat....TRUELY BEAUTIFUL!!! Was well worth the 4.5 hour drive each way for me. Was home before bedtime. The bumps were getting pretty choppy and scrapey after 3:00 so I would get up there early and ski the sun. Maybe call the mountain first and see what's still cooking. Hope this helps out. Happy Days!!!

The Bush is open tomorrow for their last day, Super Bravo, 5 trails. Heard the Loaf might spin a lift on Monday to claim last day for the east.
