Mythic Riders Question

First off, I have been a longtime lurker but this is my first post. I appreciate all the vast knowledge of everyone on this board. I have done many searches and think I know what I want, but I can't send any PM's until I have 5 posts!

I am 30yo, 5'9 and 185 pounds. I am very fit and consider myself athletic. I live in Boise now and grew up skiing Targhee, Jackson hole and Utah. Now I mainly ski Bogus Basin, Brundage, and Sun Valley. I took a few years off skiing in college as I couldn't afford it and finished up my studying in Las Vegas and recently got back into it. I am looking for a good all mountain ski as a lot of my skiing buddies prefer trees, powder and crud skiing and feel like I am leaving something on the table with my x-screams. I still really enjoy taking fast groomers runs with long GS turns a few runs a day also. The Mythic Riders I demoed seemed to make all of this much easier and I didn't have to work nearly as hard.

I think that I have decided on the Mythic Rider over the Watea 84 based on a lot of reading and the fact that I rode the mythic riders once this season and really liked them. (And SierraJims AWESOME pricing). Anyway what length would you recommed? I am waffling between the 172 and the 178 and can't seem to get a feeling. Thanks in advance for any help!

PS - I can't remember what length I had for a Demo, think 172 but not 100% sure

You couldnt go wrong with either size.

I would err towards the 178, for you just because in crud/powder it will actually be easier on your legs than the shorter ski.

I'm 5'11", 180# and ski in SW Montana. I ended up going with the 178cm length for skiing around here. The only reason I'd recommend going shorter is if you are planning on skiing tight moguls and/or tight trees.

At 185 pounds in the West... 178 is a no-brainer.

Thanks so much fellas. If you any of you are ever in Boise I will owe you a cold one!

Go for the 178 with your weight. I am 187 lb and I ski 178, best ski I ever owned.

Another nod to the 178. I'm 6' and 155 lbs and love them in that length. No problem out west in bumps or trees, and your weight and strength should have you right in your comfort zone at the longer ski.
