I'm feeling a little burned out.

I've skied at least 2 days each week since the first of the year, and am close to hitting the seventh month mark. I've gotten about 50 bona-fide powder days this season. Tomorrow is looking like 6" of new snow, but warming to near 32 as the day goes on.

There's 3 days left, and I have to ski Sat-Sun.

I'm considering taking tomorrow off and getting the bike fixed up, but I thought I'd throw it out there for any of you who didn't get your fix. Do you want me to go take some turns for you?

yes. Infact i'd be willing to take turns with you if the 6 inches pan out.

Fix the bike up today and go skiing tomorrow.

You can do some for me. I haven't been snowboarding in TWO weeks! I didn't make Loveland last weekend but will make up for it this Sunday. There is only about 1.5 months left in lift-served skiing here. Then it's hiking time.

I think I've only gotten 60 days this season.

Nice problem to have.

Go get some.

Six inches? Er...I'm beginning to feel unwell. I think I've got a touch of Posaune's snow-induced sickness coming on. Couldn't possibly make it in to work tomorrow...

Don't forget Baker's last day party on Sunday. It's usually a fun time to be there and it looks like the weather will cooperate with spring-like weather. Can't come up on Friday, but I'll be there on Sat. and Sun.

: Why don't you just go to - ah, nevermind.

You've got more powder days in this year than I've gotten in my lifetime.

You mean you've got a skiffle and a snower throat? Only one cure!

Are you still taking about skiing?

I ended my local season with a deep desire to get more turns in, but have been forced to get the mountain bike and golf clubs out.

Trip to Abasin in a couple weeks should help out, in the mean time, Harry, go eat some powder for me!!:

"tis a shame you HAVE TO SKI the weekend. I decided to take today off because ...... I could & the horses needed the final shedding brush to remove the Winter coat. But tommorrow , & Monday,,, & Tahoe is still open for another week or 2. Then there is A-basin in May, and ... Mammoth after!!!

You can still grab them & head to Mammoth sans mini. The mountain & snow will still be there. Oh, wait, I think I heard it called "Spring Corn" , the stuff heroes are made of ? hmmmm ,... this California sunshine is making those carrotts grow by the moment.... a little more water maybe....

That's what you said last week. As I recall, didn't take much arm-twisting to get you to play hooky. .

However, looking at NOAA, snow prediction looks more like 3 inches, not 6. Still, the prospect of spending Friday at Baker, and the weekend at Whistler has a certain appeal. Logistics, logistics...

I'm picturing it now. Trekchicks's quiver complete,,, now going for frequent flyer miles & clubs....

Actually 2 to 4...but that's on top of the 4 that fell this morning.

With Baker's insane amount of snowfall, and rabid fan-base, I've often wondered why they can't extend the season longer.

In CO, even in great snow years - like this one - the resorts have problems with visas for their imported workers, which cannot be extended.

But, Baker's a bit more like A-Basin, or Loveland, which aren't really resorts. They're local ski areas, with few worker visa issues.

If A-Basin can hang around unit June 8, I'm curious why Baker, with its huge snow-pack, can't do the same.

Err, that's not exactly true. Most of the lifties are South Americans and many are students. I worked there from 2002-2006. However, most of the instructors are local and part-time. Loveland opens earlier so it can apply earlier to get the visas - that's their advantage.

I agree Captain, and for evidence of demand meeting current supply, Baker was a busy busy place last weekend - granted the conditions were sublime, as good as most any mid winter days. This Sunday, the last official day open does look to be a great day, salmon and burger bbq's, beer, raffling some more chute chairs, some sun, probably a little skin, and lord knows a ton of snow still, and importantly for me - a time to give thanks for another magical and wonderful ski season ... Thank you!

I've always hated you.

A foot (or more!) of snow forecast for tonight. Of course, Baker is closed for the season. Arrrgh!
where does it say 1 foot? Could be gooooood.

NOAA North Cascades forecast.
