Hey Phil, I just realized that I screwed up the title to this thread, could you fix it for me? It should read "Any one have skis for a chair"

I don't think you should you have capitalized grammar there?

Thanks for the assist one that one Phil. I'm an engineer, anything past beyond basic communication skills, usually achieved through grunting and scratching, is considered a plus.

No, grammar should not have had a capital G.

Trek, If you don;t mind, let me know what you've got and what the shipping might cost. I'll keep looking around locally too though. I know I have some Salomon and plus a couple of really older pairs. I used to have a bunch more lying around, but over the years they have been mounted to sleds or just plan brought to the dump.

I'm looking for some snowboards as well, for a bench.

Come on guy's...even you dyed in the wool new fangled ski skier's would rather have your old boards flying down the slopes than used in furniture (or DOOR KNOCKERS! )

I think this is a sick idea, its cool with snowboards to, to make benches

Does one poly the whole chair upon completion to prevent rust and delamination? Or do you have to bring it in every day after you are done resting your keister?
If you don't like someone, just sharpen the edges before they sit down

I have a bench that sits ouside at my cabin that's made out of four pair of old straight skis. The only thing I did to them was to file down the edges so people wouldn't cut themselves if they grabbed them wrong. I have had zero weathering problems, and this is in a place that gets over 100" of rain per year.

hey krp8128 did you make the chair yet?? when your done show some pictures, I am interested to see how it turned out

If you want to pay for shipping I have some 173cm fisher RC4 Gs skis, and some 193cm Volkl P50 Gs skis as well.

In fact if anyone these skis PM me, the 193cm Volkls are still in good shape.

Do the RC4s have the Fischer H plate?

No chair yet, as I haven;t found any local skis.

Bushwacker, I appreciate the offer, but I can't afford shipping on something that I am just going to cut up right now...

sorry they are p40s..

and the fishers i dont know, the skis COULD be fixed there is a delam in the tip of one of them and with a ski press it would be possiable.

The Fishers I would let go for free with plate(plus shipping) or 80bucks with the 914tis mounted(the cost of the binders).

If you have an old fashioned town dump I'd take a ride over there.

The "Pillar of Fire" Church and Bible College in New Jersey had a whole massive pile of skis from the Stein Eriksen Ski School in Boyne.

That was a few years back but they were tossed in an abandoned indoor swimming pool.

Phil take note ............... they asked me if I wanted some ..... but I'm not allowed to get involved or accept anything from anyone.

Of course if some other Bear was to call and ask, they just may still be there and you'd be doing them a favor by cleaning out the pool.

There were probably 100 pair of skis.

Check when towns around you have clean out days. A few towns over they still allow residents to put junk out at the curb. I always see a few pair of skis and poles.

Nothing exciting or real, real old, but for chairs and stuff they'd be fine.

Ski Swaps are coming up. I'm sure if you lingered around til the end, you can find some old skinny skis that someone doesn't want to take back home and then have to put'em back in the attic for another year. Or the ski shop takes ownership of all skis not sold or claimed at the end of the swap and many of those i'm sure are dumpster worthy.
