I read Italian SOOOOO well... : Great link.

If Dalbello buys Rossi, I wonder where that leaves Elan - aren't they related to Dalbello somehow?

Translated by Babelfish (so not great but it will give you the gist)

"The trevigiana company Dalbello would be thinking to acquire Rossignol, historical society transalpina ski manufacturer. The news, brought back today from Finance and Markets, numbers the Italian house, that it produces 500,000 it seems of scarponi to the year and is in continuous rise in the international markets, between expecting of the historical French brand, "unloaded" from Quiksilver. The colossus American had found Rossignol (and with it Dynastar and Lange) in 2005. To weigh on the budgets of Quiksilver, leader in the fields outdoor and surf, the pessimi it turns out to you you follow yourself to black vintage year 2007, one of gets worse sciistiche seasons of the history. As it is known the market of the tool is closely legacy to the atmospheric conditions: warmth and little snow (characteristic of the slid winter) have ominous effects on the companies that gravitano around comparto the ski. In the plans of Dalbello, Rossignol would constitute the completion of the range ski-attack-scarpone, by now essential for the big player of the market."

If Italian is a problem, here is the same news in Croatian: http://www.skijanje.hr/hr/skijanje/clanak.php?id=19118 ;-)
Bosnian or Serbian can also be used for previous link.

Dalbello in the Running for Rossignol:

Dalbello's thinking about buying Rossignol. Reported on the 18th in the financial press (crap, I missed that, and it's my job!). Rest is mostly industry background, except that Dalbello would use Rossi to give it ski and binding brand(s) to go with boots it already sells. No word on fate of other brands (Dynastar, Lange, etc.), but it sounds like they'd want the whole package.

Also, I noticed on SkiRacing.com that Manfred Moelgg just switched to Rossi/Lange. Does that mean they're phasing out the Rossi boot brand?

Babelfish translations sometimes yield accidental gems. I rather liked this:

"As it is known the market of the tool is closely legacy to the atmospheric conditions"

nope, in some cases the athletes from Rossi will use Lange instead of the rossi version (the two colors do flex differently....)

Not So Fast ....

This was posted on Ski-Review.com

"Written by Dan Morgan
Wednesday, 26 March 2008 Cycle group Look International have expressed an interest in buying Rossignol, the French winter sports brand.
Look's head Dominique Bergin was quoted refering to Rossignol's "very nice brand" and linked the benefits of Look's carbon technology.
Any acquisition would potentially also bring the Look ski brand back home. Look's alpine binding division was sold to Rossignol in 1994 after a successful supply partnership.
Quiksilver bought Rossignol for $560 million (USD) but has since appointed JP Morgan to find potential suitors."

Also, this was reported in the media:

PARIS, March 26 (Reuters) - The head of cycling equipment group Look International told French newspaper Le Figaro that he was interested in buying Rossignol, the French winter sporting goods company that Quiksilver (ZQK.N: Quote, Profile , Research) has put up for sale.
"Why am I interested in Rossignol? Because I am a sports fan. Rossignol is a very nice brand ... and Look, with its carbon technology, can bring it a know-how," Dominique Bergin said in the interview published on Wednesday.
Quiksilver bought Rossignol three years ago for 360 million euros ($560.8 million). The sale spearheaded by JP Morgan is expected to start in early April, and Look International could team up with an investment fund to submit an offer, Le Figaro said. Is the Look or Dalbello rumours just a way for Quicksilver to get the maximum amount of money?
