Let's Go Colorado comes to an end and a Thank You!

Thread Starter
Just wanted to let everyone know officially that the Let's Go Colorado series of get togethers has ended with number IV.

After talking with Uncle Louie and Sugarcube who were the inspiration for as well as doing almost all the behind the scenes work at these events it's just not going to happen going forward.

I'm virtually certain you will me see myself and UL/Sugarcube posting in this forum saying hey we'll be at Ski Area X on such and such dates and would like to hook up with available skiers. Just as we've done numerous times in the past outside of the LGC umbrella.

Thanks to all who participated this season and in seasons past as it was a healthy part of my becoming a better skier and expanding friendships and acquaintances

I would prefer to think of LGC as an inspiration for all amazing Bear Get Togethers.

Heck, look at my little trip in January. 23 showed up and we had tons of fun!

No, its not really done, just the seed and inspiration for all future Mini GTG's!

Thanks UL, Sugarcube, and Jim for all the effort and inspiration that has fueled other amazing gatherings!!!

During 2, 2.5, and 3, we kept track of all the different people who showed up for an LGC event. While we don't have the lists handy, UL and I guestimated that probably 75-80 individuals skied/snowboarded/tellied (sp?) and represented probably 20 different states (red and blue!). We even had some folks from Korea, Oz, and the UK stop in for some turns. Won't even try to guess how many vertical feet were skied...let's just say, A LOT!

Thanks to UL for the 'brainwave' and to Jim for keeping the spirit alive through LGC IV. As the saying goes, "all good things must come to an end," and I hope, as TC says, Bear Get Togethers continue to thrive!

As a participant in LGC 2.5 & 3 I'd like to thank Uncle Louie for all the time and effort he has put into these adventures. I have met a lot of interesting people and great ski friends.

If the good lord is willing we'll meet up on the slopes of Colorado again.

Good luck Greg and Nancy, thanks for the memories.

It is a painful truth that my business kept me away from the slopes (and, for that matter, EpicSki) most of this season. My nice Colorado Pass got used once. I was blessed to meet a few folks on one of the LGC days at Copper, but my family had claimed me for the day so I didn't really get to ski with any Bears (although Annie joined our family group in the morning while I was getting Gabe going on the greens).

Uncle Louie is a mentor to me. He put his heart and soul into the LGCs. His is a passion that is contagious and demanding. He deserves all the appreciation expressed by so many here... and more. Thanks Greg.

One of these days I'll figure out how to balance the clients and the snow. This season it didn't work very well. The good news is... there's always next year!

there's always:

Let's Go Cali

or

Let's Go Utah

or

Let's Go Jackson Hole (Targhee & Snow King)

or even

Let's Go Canada

...i'm not volunteering for any of these, btw, just sayin'...

Yeah, thanks for introducing me to some great places to ski and even better people to ski with. Now, Summit/Eagle counties are pretty much a must destination for me at least once a season. My bank account really appreciates it. :

Thanks to all for making feel "at home" during the most recent LG Colorado get together.
Jggiddy UP, Uncle Louie, and Sugar Cube were all most accomodating and helpful.

Hope to see some / all of you next year

As an alum of all five events, I gotta say thanks to Greg and Jim for putting these things on each year... and of course their better halves. It was a great handful of events and I learned a ton over the few years of skiing with the groups. It was fun, but certainly not over. Just because there is no more formal LGC event, doesn't mean that Bears won't be socializing and chasing each other around the Summit and Eagle county mountains. I challenge any Bear to come ski here alone, it's hard to do. More than once this year I just happened to run into out-of-town Bears on the hill without even knowing that they were in town. lol

All that said, I believe this was the right decision and a move that was made with great consideration. Although I had a great time this year, as before, I felt that it just didn't have the same vibe this year. For the reasons mentioned elsewhere, and others... I feel it was the correct decision.

I look forward to skiing with old and meeting new Bears for many years to come...

The LGC events have been "Epic".
They consistently out-drew Gatherings and were a huge motivation for people to set travel plans, buy passes, get married and in general raise mayhem.

So, for those of us who missed it. What gives?

I have kind of a multiple choice here:
Organizational effort and time
Lack of qualified guides
We had issues.

Whatever the reason, I look forward to meeting up with the Colorado crew who have provided more stoke to get togethers than any other region.
Having tried to organize these group events, I know what it takes, and the toll it takes. I truly hope this is just a new beginning. :

My mucho thanks to everyone, too.

I also particpated in every one of these events dating back to the fun days at Loveland organized by Tom Burch and Ric Reiter, and the last years of spring skiing in CO have always been a wonderful time!

I will be looking for threads next year ... we all still have to get together and ski!

take care all,
kiersten
