Right, yesterday I filled the tank with diesel fuel...
The tank was still 1/8th full (or 7/8th empty look at it the side you prefer)
Costo f the operation...69€...Many of my colleagues driving around in MPV
(Fiat Ulysse) are now beyond the 100 € mark for a full tank...
Cars like the Toyota Prius with hybrid power plant have suddenly become very appealing to me, if it were not for the price...
I am now going to lease a crossoverlookalike (2x4 Fiat Croma - 150hp - diesel) but I am now coming very close to see this as my last "traditional" engine powered car...Afterwards it will very likely be either an hybrid or the "St. Francis horse"....

OK, went to a wedding yesterday and washed the car before going so here are some pics:

Plenty of cargo room, even for a head Monster ski bag (removed third row seats).


My personalization/lapse in judgement. Cute if I were the only one to drive, but being that its her car and she will at times actually drive it herself, this decal may bring about some unwanted attention...so its probably coming off.

Yesterday I saw a guy jogging behind an SUV holding one end of a sofa that was sticking out the back of the truck. I thought, "that guy needs an Escalade or a Bikes At Work trailer." To be fair, I would have to remove my SMV sign and move the trailer axle to transport a sofa. No one needs to be running behind a car though. It would be much easier to use a bicycle and trailer. He neighbors probably would have less respect if he hadn't carried at least half of the load by truck. It's all about what the neighbors think. It was a funny July fourth sighting and it made me proud to be an American.

No eves, fake shutters, strangely placed gutters, window-mounted air-conditioners.

Is this New Jersey? I've never been, so my question is legit.

I just can't believe that a garage in this neighborhood would house project jeeps before giving space to that Denali. Perhaps it doesn't- Perhaps the jeeps are in the yard.

Surely, I'm mistaken. But this is surreal.

Truly - I thought the allegation was that this was BIG $ territory, and our hero was Mr. Big - whoa, apparently not :.

The old rule - live in a BMW house and drive a Chevy, apparently hasn't caught on in that neighborhood. And yes, Ms. RR appears quite delirious, proud, enthralled, etc. of the new acquisition .

(Gawd, I'd be so embarrassed to drive that thing - even to ride in it).

As the saying goes "Location Location Location". I don't know exactly where RR lives; those houses in the background could easily be big dollar houses. This is the northeast...and in the CT/NY area you can have a regular ol' raised ranch that goes for half a million or more. Again...location folks.

I live in CT, and through no fault of my own go to LI fairly regularly. Those are NOT big $ houses, even for LI.

She does not really like to take pics, believe it or not.

GlennJ is 100% correct.
The houses in my hood go for $650k to about $3m.....I agree though the house directly in front of mine is not quite up to par. Funny thing is that last night while walking the dogs I made this same comment, usually the older people that have been living in the neighborhood since it was formed have the more, um "boring" houses...the younger owners tear them down or rebuild McMansions; there are some down the block and there is one behind us. But you will find a house that looks like it should be torn down, still worth $700k next door to $2.5M palace...such is Long Island and even Queens for that matter. Regardless, what you pay for a house where I live you can buy a whole farm in other states...location, location, NY is rediculously expensive. We are a block from the water. Im in the mortgage business so I know very well what can be bought and for how much throughout the country. Taxes in this neighborhood are $12k a year, if you have a pool add another $5k, if you are on the water its $34k/yr. Some people are on the water and have a pool....that's some serious cash just to "stay afloat".

My house is under repairs...its newly acquired.

Gee I wonder what you would say about the guy down the block who has 2 Benzes, a Lincoln, a Denali, a Maserati, and a bright yellow 35' raceboat in his driveway (he got it last week). Or the guy around the block who has an H2, M6, and 911 turbo convt. My street has no less than 25 Benzes, we are actually low key by comparison.

Richie-rich might be an 'easy target' for ridicule, but... WOW.

Well I would have to strongly disagree with that. At least here in metro NY, the new houses that are being built are beautiful. Here is one that was newly redone on the next block over, and there are much nicer examples to be found all over Long Island and Queens.

Does this make any sense?

If no sellers (who, for one day old vehicles, I think we can assume are all original owners) are willing to sell at what you say the depreciated price is, then perhaps that's not an accurate depreciated price.

Why all the hate for Richie-Rich? He (his SO?) bought a vehicle he can presumably afford. If you think such vehicles impose a large cost on society, how about directing your ire to legislators who've yet to impose appropriate gas taxes and/or taxes on acquisition of such vehicles so that the costs to society are borne by those imposing them?

Depends what you consider big $$$. If more than $5million is what you define as big money then you are correct, there are few if any to be found here for that much....actually there is one I know of its up for $7million, but its a white elephant.
