The prototype concept car was launched in Austrilia four years ago:

wow Australians in a time warp or something? I'm thinking "The Monkeys" though at least Monkeys' car was kinda cool.
Actually the first Monkey's car a 1966 Pontiac GTO was very cool:

I thought that was an inverse relationship. Maths is hard.

Maybe tow this behind the Suburban.

Tow!? Heck you can lift that little guy up with the help of your neighbor and throw it in the back along with the dogs.

In a land full of Hummers, Excursions, Semis and Suburbans, driving one of those things is like asking to die. To which I say OD instead, that is more eco freindly than having to clean up the smeared remains of you and your unSMART car on the LIE.

Here's the weird thing, the Yukon has a much greater power/weight ratio. Although I guess it has to do things besides carry two people.

Smart Car (euro version) 1588 lbs
61hp
1 hp/26 lbs

Yukon Denali (not XL)
5635 lbs
380 hp

1hp/14.8 lbs

btw: GM is saying get 4,500 cash back on Yukon in stock from 1/22 this Memorial Day wknd

+1

That is my default assumption whenever I see an egregiously large or overpowered vehicle.

SUV: I'm sure you all know the hummer is just a new body on a suburban frame and a real hummer is a hum-v. Sure you do . The real hum-v gets my rocks off with the suspension, ground clearance and powertrain. I guess one big problem is the width, they won't fit on some jeep trails.

AND in spite of its hunkering size, and insatiable fuel thirst it is neither powerful (power/weight), nor fast, nor roomy.

Jeepers have a saying: "The only hummer I would ever want is from your sister"

Woop's

Ok guys, I didn't mean to open my mouth for this when I shoud have stuck a toothbrush in it. I have been out of th offroad seen for a long time. I guess a Hum-v would look like a cornish game hen at Glamis on thanksgiving weekend. I did like the blown alc inj volvo and vw 2500 hp rails. Make the powerglide jeeps look like snails. Had to go side hill just to keep from flipping over. 10yr in those dunes ans seen almost everything. But rock crawling is something else. Cyote canyon.
Pwr/Wt ratio
800lbs/2500hp? No calc on hand.

Hence the reason I do not live in the "land of hummers", nor do I drive the LIE. Thank the gods.

But I'd still rather ride the Ninja.

No gas hogs.

Any recommendations on a new fuel efficient truck that is suburban proof on impact? With diesel at $4.76 I may be looking for a new rig to replace the old beat up hog.

I appreciate any advice.

I thought this was a good spot for this:

Mr Bad Example

I started as an alter boy, working at the church
Learning all my holy moves, doing some research
Which led me to a cash box, labeled "Children's Fund"
I'd leave the change, and tuck the bills inside my cummerbund

I got a part-time job at my father's carpet store
Laying tackless stripping, and housewives by the score
I loaded up their furniture, and took it to Spokane
And auctioned off every last naugahyde divan

I'm very well aquainted with the seven deadly sins
I keep a busy schedule trying to fit them in
I'm proud to be a glutton, and I don't have time for sloth
I'm greedy, and I'm angry, and I don't care who I cross

I'm Mr. Bad Example, intruder in the dirt
I like to have a good time, and I don't care who gets hurt
I'm Mr. Bad Example, take a look at me
I'll live to be a hundred, and go down in infamy

Of course I went to law school and took a law degree
And counseled all my clients to plead insanity
Then worked in hair replacement, swindling the bald
Where very few are chosen, and fewer still are called

Then on to Monte Carlo to play chemin de fer
I threw away the fortune I made transplanting hair
I put my last few francs down on a prostitute
Who took me up to her room to perform the flag salute

Whereupon I stole her passport and her wig
And headed for the airport and the midnight flight, you dig?
And fourteen hours later I was down in Adelaide
Looking through the want ads sipping Fosters in the shade

I opened up an agency somewhere down the line
To hire aboriginals to work the opal mines
But I attached their wages and took a whopping cut
And whisked away their workman's comp and pauperized the lot

I'm Mr. Bad Example, intruder in the dirt
I like to have a good time, and I don't care who gets hurt
I'm Mr. Bad Example, take a look at me
I'll live to be a hundred and go down in infamy

I bought a first class ticket on Malaysian Air
And landed in Sri Lanka none the worse for wear
I'm thinking of retiring from all my dirty deals
I'll see you in the next life, wake me up for meals

You have probably been in tears laughing at the asian flooding and earthquake disasters recently in the news.

O.K. not hilarious just ironic.

Paging DoWork!!!!!

I know we're not supposed to post eBay auctions bit this is too good not to share. They're auctioning a Tony Hawk Jeep Wrangler. This truck is Baaa Haaaadddd!!!!!!!!!

It needs some additional modifications to be an ideal ski vehicle but it's one heck of a start:

I was just in ebay and saw that. Looks great, but those low profile tires would be anyones undoing in a real offroad situation.
RichieR,
I got an 08 Silverado Ext Cab VortexMax. This is the 6 litre motor version, with traction control, front and rear discs. The bed got a Bedrug, and covered with a Undercover Tonneau. This 6'6" bed will hold skis and gear under lock and key and keep most of the weather off of the gear. Just for kicks I had the Flowmaster hooked up as well. Yes, it is black.
