Seattle Bears: Mt Baker Road Trip?

Work is the curse of the skiing class, and I've been doing far too much of it lately. Work, that is. I'm going to miss closing day at the local hills, so I need something to sustain my will to live. Some small glimmer of hope. And that would be a Baker trip, either sometime from April 18 - 20 or April 25 - 27.

Remember, friends don't let friends give up and go biking.

Baker wont be open the 23rd-24th. The mountain is open only Fri-Sat-Sun for the rest of the month.

I will be there every day they're open from here on out. Can't road trip from SeaWash as I live closer to the Mountain, but let me know when you'll be up and I'll try to hook up.

You are absolutely correct, and I am just confused! I meant the 25 - 27th, thanks for pointing that out. I will definitely let you you if/when I'm there.

Crystal may be open weekends into May & Alpental is open weekends through May 4th when they have a Cuatro de Mayo party on Sunday the 4th. In fact I think that is me in the bright blue Arteryx jacket and black hat last year!

Crystal's website says Closing Date 4/13. And they just put that up in there in the last week or two, before that it always sad mid-April.

That is not exactly accurate. seasons passes that were printeed up long before the season started say they are good through 04/13.

there was an article in the paper last week. Looks like they may close the 13th but reopen in May

here is one I found http://www.theolympian.com/winterspo...ry/406348.html

Cuatro de Mayo looks like fun. Sure you're not Purple Batman Dude?

Also, skicougar notes that Timberline Lodge is open well into May. Since summer doesn't really start here until July 4th - perfect timing!

Damn, that guy jacked my batman suit!

Hood is open through the the whole year. Normally they only close 2 weeks in September. With the snowfall this year like 739 inches should be no problem. I have skied there in June and Late July many times!

See FAQ Under general questions; How do you ski year round?

http://www.timberlinelodge.com/more_info/faqs.php

Also Bachelor is normally open thru Memorial day.

Well, if anyone is up for going to Baker on this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday look me up. I'll be there. Radio frequency 7/19, or post when you'll be there and we can set a time to meet.

How's the snow? Must be pretty slushy...but in July, who's complaining?

I'll try to make it Saturday, it may be dicey however. It looks like the weather should be good.

Forecast for Seattle:

Friday: Periods of showers, mainly after 11am. High near 47. West wind at 5 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Saturday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. South southeast wind between 5 and 8 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Sunday: Scattered showers, with a high near 50. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

In other words, miserable. Not much fun for biking. As per usual.

Whereas Mount Baker:

SNOW LEVELS FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING WILL AVERAGE AROUND 1000 FEET...AND MAY FALL TO NEAR SEA LEVEL IN HEAVIER SHOWERS DURING THE NIGHT AND EARLY MORNING HOURS. THE MOUNTAINS AND CASCADE PASSES WILL SEE ACCUMULATING SNOW FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...

WITH ACCUMULATIONS NEAR 1 FOOT OVER THE 2 DAY PERIOD.

How about meeting at 10:00 at the bottom of chair 6, and then we can figure out where to go from there?

I'm still not certain if I can be there on Saturday, but if we have a time and a place then we've got something to shoot for. I'll be there Sunday for a half day (AM) for sure!
