I promised you all I was going...and I did! Was the busiest day I have seen this season!! NO snow shortage...NO bare spots!! Later that afternoon....18,000 people there to watch the Snow Jam Snowboard Competition!!!

Notice all the lift chairs! All full with 4 people on each!!! What a Gorgeous day!!!

Great to see those late season crowds. In the US most people don't ski in April no matter how great the conditions are due to other interests. Are the ski areas in Quebec talking about extending their closing dates because of the record breaking snow conditions? Believe Mont Saint Sauveur is one of two ski areas I could see to the southeast from the summit of Mont Sainte Anne when I visited there a couple weeks ago. What was the other?

I don't think any of the Quebec ski areas plan to extend, but Mont Saint-Sauveur prides itself on having the longest ski season in Quebec. They will be open to the point where they no longer can be!! Last year, at the end, they had 2 runs and half the run was grass!!! Was still fun, though!! People would go from the snow...onto the grass and back onto the snow!!!

The resort you may have seen from Ste Anne may have been Stoneham or Le Massif? Those are east of Ste Anne. Sauveur would be more southwest as would Tremblant. Not sure if you can see Orford or the other Eastern Township resorts from there? Maybe Jay Peak??

Wait! Le Massif de Sud is definitely south east of Ste Anne...that's probably the one! Never been there...but they do have a website.....

Ste Anne is near Quebec City and Saint-Sauveur is near Montreal, so there's no way you would have seen one from the other. Most likely you would have seen Stoneham from the top of Mont Ste. Anne.

As for closings, I know Owl's Head was going to close this past weekend, but they're going to opening up again this weekend because of the snow cover. St. Sauveur usually makes enough snow to stay open until May, though coverage is pretty thin by then.

Oops, I was misled by this map: http://www.skireport.com/googlemap/?regionid=125
It erroneously places Saint Sauveur where Le Massif du Sud is. Pretty sure that is one I saw. Not sure what other ski area I saw, but it was across the St. Lawrence in the same direction, maybe Orford, Sutton or Owls Head?
Regarding the good crowds at Saint Sauveur, it must benefit from close proximity to Montreal.
Le Massif (de Petite) is not visible from Mont Sainte Anne, I didn't see Stoneham either from there. You can see the skyline of Quebec City, it's only about 25 miles/40 kms to the southwest (up river).

Yup....map is definitely wrong!! Sauveur is right near Mont Habitant...2 minute drive. You mentioned the first resort is also ACROSS the St Laurence...not sure what that might have been! Orford is a pretty big mountain, but not sure if you would see it from there...
