It is with heavy heart and brimming eyes that I inform the community of the passing of Wallace Westfeldt, 22, who died today in a fall in the backcountry near Aspen. There are no words to express my sorrow for Weems and his family at the loss of their son and brother, friend and fellow snowrider.

Weems, I have a daughter that is Wallace's age, and I can't imagine suffering this loss. Your son had a great gift for snowboarding and accomplished so much that made you proud and our hearts soar. Take care and know we all support you, even though, in my case, words fail.
