It seems as if lots of areas are closing right now, yet the snow is still plentiful. Can they not get enough skiers up there to pay the bills? What are those ex-skiers going to do: go mountain biking, fighting snow drifts? Play golf? The courses around here are still brown. Why do skiers bail out at this time of year? I would love to be up skiing in the sun, ripping up creamy corn snow. Spring is the best time of the year for skiing (especially in the PNW, when we actually get to see the sun), yet nobody seems to ski much after March. What a shame.....especially with such a good snow year. At least most of the areas around here plan on being open weekends through April, and the bigger areas (like Mt. Hood Meadows) will probably ski until June. Bachelor used to ski until July 4, until Powdr took things over; I really have no idea when they are closing this year, but it will probably be before I am back on the snow.
