It was not done in ignorance it is more about being patriotic. At one time you could buy an American made binding but I am not sure you can find one today. You can find an American owned company with manufacturing skies in the USA but binding and boot that is both owned and manufactured in USA is tough. Do you remember when President Ford took some grief about not skiing on an American made ski? He ended up on a Red, White, and Blue ski that said "Made in USA" but it was a Rossi from Vermont except I do not think they ever manufactured in Vermont just a distribution center. Maybe they just painted it there. I have only one pair of French skies now my old VR27's. Buy American, the job you save may be yours, your kids, or your grandkids.
PS Why the "Smash" Rossi made so many better skies than the Smash? Must have been your first pair of skies.
