I was fortunate to have Charlie as my coach as ESA Aspen Snowmass this year. He is a wealth of information on the mountain and seems to know every nook and cranny out there.

He announced that we were going to see the Ski Museum at Aspen, which immediately made me :
MargaritaMarcia and Nolo can attest to my comment that Phil and Rossi would be sick about all these skis!!!

Here are some shots I took.......
(I tried to overlap the pics so that you wouldn't miss any of the skis)

This close up for Rossismash

If anyone wants full size versions of these pics, please let me know.

What color "The Ski"?

The 1200 SP was the first new ski I bought, and still has a special place in my heart.

Never a fan of the Comprex, I liked the RC05 much better.

Will keep an eye out for some PURE GOLDS. I do recall seeing some on Skibay recent.

You need to post in the "skis you've owned over the years" thread.
The Ski was WHITE... Comprex X still the best... PURE GOLDS, where is Skibay? need these for my office...
Skibay is just slang for Ebay. Sorry for the confusion.

I went and Skied at Nubs Nob here in Mich. today, and took the Hexcel Sundances w/ Burt Bindings. I still must say I like the way a longer ski runs and carves.

Tell me about

Olin Zero Gravitys?

There was a pair of these sitting, no bindings, in front of the lift ticket window at Whitetail last night.

Mid 90's Olins were produced by K2. The Ozone was one of my favorites of that generation.

These looked sort of like the ones in RS' pic but with lime green highlights on dark black field with a grey stipple center.

Looked very straight, very bump oriented. Going by bindings I'd say several years later (PWG toe era).

Drool..FRD's on the Spaulding 09's. Maybe the only binding I would drill my VO's for. I am looking for a pair to add to my wall o'bindings.

Like those old Spaldings! Those Starboards were a favorite for a long time. Still have them somewhere. I have a pair of early Siderals (just say Sideral without "Numero Uno" on them) that I ski on from time to time. I have a couple of pairs of undrilled Formidables. You didn't see as much of them back in the day.

1981 seems late to me..... especially if for the original.
I learned to ski on the Head Yahoo (the original yellow one in the picture). That was in 1976 so there's no way that the 1981 date is correct.

My first setup was the orange Hansons and the Mark IVs. I didn't realize until later how much I hated those boots.

Next setup was the black/orange/white Rossi ST Comps and Lange XLs. Much better performance from that setup, like night and day.

I also had a pair of K2 Comp 610s. Not sure where they fit in the timeline. It's all kind of a blur.

My current Langes aren't all that much different than those XLs. Ok not nearly as painful but built almost the same.
