Can you race at a USSA masters event with a competitor's license?

Technically I'm not really sure. Generally though, I don't think anybody really cares as long as you have a valid USSA number. At least that was my experience in the NY area.

Yep.. I think you have up to 2 races you can join each year without the annual lic. There is a $10 or $15 fee though.

I believe the poster may be referring to a standard USSA license? As in, if you have one, can you race Masters on it, or do you need the Masters License as well (can't imagine not, but don't know for sure).

The temp license may only be for two races on a given weekend once per year, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes: if you have a competitor's license & are over 18 (both new this season) you can race masters. If no license, you can get a temp. for the event.

Are you sure about the iriponsnow? I am not doubting you, its just that I asked the same question a while back on a different ski forum and I was told you need a masters license to race masters after the pay as you go try out .

My bad, didnt read fully, so this is new this season then?

I finally found it. The rule change is not in the 2008 Masters rulebook, but it is in the Fall newsletter for masters. The new rule states that racers with student or competitor's licenses can race at Masters events, but not at the regional or national championships.

Here is an excerpt:

The following is the actual verbiage of our new rule:
1. Alpine Competitor membership holders 18 years and older may race
in Alpine Masters races.
2. Alpine Student membership holders 18–22 years old may race in
Alpine Masters races.
3. Only Alpine Masters members 21 and older are eligible for Alpine
Masters Regional and National Championships.
