Hey Matt, in Philly maybe Crosby sucks but Hartnell definitely bites it.
I thought the boys looked pretty sharp last night. Dan was mixing up the lines and letting them play their game. Sid in particular was really working hard all night. How 'bout his faceoff win stats!
I was a little fed up with the pointless dropping of the gloves after the faceoff crap.

Just caught the Canadian recap of the game on NHL.  The announcer saying that Orr and Godard are like two Irish brothers made me laugh.  Almost as good as Steigy's "here comes mophead" comment at Hartnell.

I hate Ronald McHartnell with a passion.  I can't believe the league passed on any suspension or fine for him.  He and Richards will pay for their actions.  Losers since '75 and counting.  Cooke has Pronger's number, he's officially not a worry at all.

I know that Scotty was one of your favorites but I thought you likened him to Bozo. I missed that mop head comment. That is just too funny. I love it when the boys kick Flyer  butt and and their fans sing the same tune, just like Kate. No, I take that back, Kate sings a grand song. The Flyer's fans on the other hand........

Bozo works too.  Either way, Hartnell is a bush league bum of a hockey player.  Judging by their off season acquisitions, Philly is where the bums all eventually migrate to.  Pronger, Hartnell, Cote, Carcillo, Emery, Laperrier... and the list is growing.

My Pens are in your house tonight @ 7.......

Will your Canes a.k.a. Whaler Lite's have something for them?
We don't play the Canes until Thursday.

The Canes and Stars aren't looking too good yet.  I think I'll refvert to my NY days and pull for the Rangers for a spell until the other struggling panzies get it back together again.   Did Chelios end up working in the Hawks's office yet?

I just saw this on the Pens site, then checked the schedule I got again.  Yep the schedule I got is misprinted, it says we play the Canes tomorrow.

GO PENS!

NHLN is blacked out here tonight.    I guess that is what happens when the home team can't sell all the seats.  But, when your local team sucks it's kinda nice because then I can always get tickets to the games on short notice for reasonable prices.

Looks like the Canes woke up  to tie it in the third.  We'll see how it turns out.  I'm checking the score periodically.
The Canes did make a fine effort to bring it back even.

S.O. did go the Pens way though

That 5-0   (best start ever?)

NHLN was blacked out because the game was on your local FSN.  Our NHLN in Pgh blacks out because FSN PIT has the game.  Nothing to do with seats sold.  The whole black out thing is really getting annoying.  Canes looked good the Pens were a little tired and sloppy.  We never should have let the Canes back in the game, but we got lucky and won the SO.  Ward's glove was on fire though...except when Rupp deked him out of his jock strap.  I'm still shocked that Rupp had that shot in him, lol.  Probably not as shocked as he was though.

The most entertaining part of the game was watching Ward and Fleury.  Both were awesome in net.  I think that's the top 2 of 3 goalies in the NHL right now for pure talent.  The 3rd being Thomas...in no particular order.

Anyone catch that Pens game last night? The boys looked pretty damn good. A few to many turnovers but hey, 8-1 is a hell of a way to start the season!

Canes hit a new low... Defeated by the Islanders.  I'm taking my son a game Nov 6th.  I  think they play the Leafs.  I hope they get back on track for that.
This has been a weird start for the season.  Bottom feeders are rising up and beating top level teams week in, week out.

I had thought the Leafs looked pretty good in the preseason.  Obviously, I was really wrong, lol.

I'm waiting for the Pens to come crashing back down to earth.  The loss of Gonch may be the start of that.

Nice 3rd period by the kid last night.

9-1

This has been a weird and AWFUL start to the season.  I didn't think the Wild would be that good this year, but I never thought they would be sooo putrid.  Just un-effin' belivable.  Lose to Nashville (also a team playing badly) by giving up a shortie.  How this team can look so good for ten minutes and then make so many bone-headed mistakes.  Don't know if Richards is just that bad as a coach or if this just shows what a great job Lemaire did getting mediocre players to play above their level.  And what's with Colorado?  Picked to finish last in the Northwest in a rebuilding year, they come out of the gate beating everybody.  Only solace for the moment is that the season is young and there is lots of hockey still to play.
The Av's are killing it out of the gate this year.  As long as DET keeps struggling in the West, I'm happy.  I'd love to see a young Av's team take DET out of the playoff run when it's all said and done.
Well Tag your Wild had to make you happy this weekend.
Yup - for the first time this season!  Went to the Ranger's game.  It was more one-sided than the score would indicate.  Without Gaborik skating, the game lost a bit of it's fun factor, but the Wild really played a good game, generating scoring chances most of the night.  Really fun game to watch, then the next night, you would have sworn that Lemaire was back behind the bench.  He would have loved the game against the Pen's.  Jump on the few chances you get in the offensive zone, push all the shots to the outside and clear everything out from in front of the net and let your goalie steal one.  Wild have not been a team that spends much in the free agency pool, so they are waiting for their draft picks to step up and make a difference and so far, the only two draft picks that have shown they are/could be something special are Gaborik and Clutterbuck.  Bouchard has one season that says he could be in that camp too, but he's spent too much time hurt and doesn't have the physical size to stand a lot of bangin' around.  Couple of guys in the minors/Juiniors could still develop, but so far the Wild have not drafted well in their 9 years in the league.

Hockey Fans Survey (I really miss the poll feature)
I'm taking my kid to the Hurricanes game tomorrow for Scout Night.'

Our two win Carolina team is playing the one win Male Leafs.  It is the battle of the two worst teams in hockey.

Should I:

Wear a Hurricanes jersey proudly?
Wear another team's jersey?  I have several.
Wear a Hurricanes jersey with a bag over my head?
Skip the NHL gear for this event?
If you have to ask, you're not a fan :)

Myself, as a die hard Pens fan would wear the colors regardless of how we were playing.  I did it for 17 years of sucking, not about to stop now.
^^^ True, but they weren't my first Hockey home team, more like the third home team for me (fourth if you count the Stars twice) .

More importantly though, this is my kid's first hockey game and his first team to love.  He won't care about the previous games as long as they win tomorrow.  I will don the Canes home sweater and Stanley Cup Champs hat and will be supporting them as if it is Cup Game 7 tomorrow as my son's first hockey game experience should be.
Well, a 10 game losing streak has to end just as a 10 game winning streak is pushing the odds.  I guess you have a legitimate 50/50 chance against the Leafs.  If I had to bet, the Canes win at home ending the streak.

The big question is, how much longer before Maurice is looking for a job?  A team that makes the ECF gets swept,  then posts this sort of record the next season usually loses the Head Coach shortly after.

I hear Therrien is available, lmao.

T'were it me, I'd select in this order;

Whaler's home sweater (just to make Ronnie Francis remember when)
Cane's, 'cause they need the support
Hab's, well just because the Leaf's don't like'um
post #869 of 2578
Kid loved the game even though we lost.  He's hooked fo sho.

Smash... saw a sweet Whalers throwback sweater on someone there.

#9 Howe.
