Osgood is not a great goalie by any means, he is average at best surrounded and held up by a great defense. His team collapses around him and the crease at every opportunity. The fact that he's going to go into the HOF is a joke.
Osgood next to Roy? Sawchuck? Joke.
You could take any starting goalie in the league and put them on the Red machine and they would have Osgood's Cup record.

He has won many games single handedly over the years.
Elements of truth to both comments. Osgood is an above-average goalie who has benefited from playing on some exceptional teams and has one great gift in that he consistently elevates his game when the playoffs start. Is he an HOF goalie? Probably not, but his playoff record and Cup wins will probably get him in. One of the biggest reasons for doubts about him comes from his current team which for most of his career expected him to share goaltending duties with Vernon, Legace, or be the backup to Hasek. He really doesn't have many seasons where he was expected to be THE #1 goalie. Put him on a more avereage team, i.e. his stints with the Islander's or the Blues, and he achieved average results. However, like I noted earlier, when given the opportunity with several very good Detroit teams, he has pulled his game up a notch and made the team better and brought home the Cup.
I'm still looking for a game 7 back in Detroit. I don't expect the Pen's to win going away in game 5, but my bet is that this will be the first series in many years where the home team wins all their games. Suppose the Wings might get over-confident about getting back to the Joe for a game 7, but I doubt Babcock will let that happen.
