Definately a post, and Fleury wasn't even on that side of the goal. Wings absolutely blew a sure goal there..:

Anyone have a video source for that particular save? I was amazed it stayed out, but did not hear the post get hit either.

Malkin is probably just overworked. I'm thinking he's simply been dehydrated by the higher level of play. The continual decrease in performance makes it look plausible. Could also be linked to a lousy diet.

I'm no doctor, but I've experienced similar things myself on long ski holidays.

No video but reputable source

Fleury's frightening moment was yet to come. With the Red Wings pressing to get back in it, Holmstrom banged a drive off the post with 11:43 left in the period.

He did have the Flu between the ECF and game 1 of the SCF, but it still makes you wonder. Has he been sick for a month?

He's 21 and in the best shape of his life, who knows. It can't help his upcoming contracts regardless.

I had high hopes for the kid. I hope he rebounds fast and proves me wrong.

Malkin is missing and it looks to me that his play drops when Crosby is on the ice. All the fuss when Crosby returned has to sting a little. Maybe not being the star hurts his pride??? Malkin was the offensive force when Crosby was out so long during the regular season. He was neck and neck with Ovechkin for the scoring title. OK the Wings are tough but their best defensive pairing goes against Crosby's line. Pens need Malkin, Malone and Sykora to step up big time.

Malkin is 21?

OMG HE SUCKS

Defensive mistakes again

What a game! I thought Hudler's goal was stoppable. I wonder if Fluery was expecting a shot?

I thought the Wings would give one up on the 5 on 3, but the Swedes and Ozzie came up huge.

I thought the Wings were the better team, but what do I know? A bunch of beer league old guys can't be very good.

I was listening to 1250AM, a Pittsburgh sports radio station. They were saying that Holmstrom is more dangerous out of the line up than in it. They think he is slow and can only hang out in the crease. He has 32 playoff goals and 30 assists, over his career.

From the radio discussions I have heard, I think there are a lot of Pens fans that cannot believe that a better team exists.

Ouch, that one hurt.
2 out the Wings 11 goals have come from the first line. Pens only have 4 goals, so any stats are insignificant.

Defense wins the Cup. The Wings top line has beared down defensively. The Pens forwards lack the defensive skills to win close games against an elite opponent. It is a learning process. The danger is that the team won't be intact long enough to learn, given the salary cap.

Give Malkin a year or two in the Wings organization and he would be a difference maker. Want to ship him to Detroit and see?

Look at Yzerman, for 6 consecutive years he had more than 100 points, including a 155 and a 137 point season. Then came Bowman. He got Yzerman to play a two way game. His point production was cut in half, but he won 3 cups. Sidney and Malkin should think about that after the Wings win the Cup.
Why would you want Malkin? He's clearly too soft for the wings.

Pay attention, MT, as much he sucks as a tactical coach has turned this team into two way players. It's what he's been doing for 2 years, ala Bowman. Stop regurgitating googled stats and watch hockey outside of what's shown on the red network.
The Wings have out shot the Pens by at least 10 shots a game, hardly indicative of a two way defensive team.

I think the Wings could turn Malkin into a Datsyuk. Anyways, you don't want him anymore do you?

Who thinks the Pens can survive Monday night in Detriot?

I'd sure like to see them do it......but

Can it be done????
Saw the first game of this on Sat. night. Penguins with their 5 on 3 for almost all of it looked like they didn't even have an advantage. Only at the very end of it did they start doing things. Terrible man up play. I would say totally outplayed by geritol munching Red Wings for a lot of the game - partic 2nd/3rd periods. You'd think the younger guys would be better at the end.
One of RW goals came after like 3 lousy attempts by Peng. to clear it up the boards- almost to the same spot each time.
To answer the question - no if they play like that they have no chance.

Go Penguins!

"you can do it!"

Unfortunately it takes skills that they do not have.:

We'll know tomorrow....

DETROIT (AP) - Hold off on those parade plans.
That's the message from Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brian Rafalski, who knows something about the pressure of finishing off a Stanley Cup championship: He won twice with the New Jersey Devils and saw one chance slip away in agonizing fashion.
"There's still a lot of work to do," Rafalski said Sunday. "I've learned that. I've lost one."

Not bad for a bunch of talentless kids. Can we say Marc-Andre Fleury now there's a talent. Back to the Burgh for game 6 and whats that sound the Wings are hearing????

Those NBC announcers must have taken their cue from fisch, whining about the refs yet no mention of Osgood's flopping in game 1. What a bunch of biased hacks, might as well wear Wings sweaters.

Lets go Pens!!!

Wow

What a game! Some great chances, great hits, and some incredible saves!! I thought for Pittsburgh to have a chance, Fleury would need to steal one in Detroit and tonight he did. Wondered if Detroit would come out sleep-walking like they have in the past few series, but they seemed to moving well in the first period, just still a step behind the Pens. Suddenly we have a series again!

That was an amazing game... Too bad NBC's broadcast team is TERRIBLE.

I'd almost rather mute it and listen to the soccer (ahem, "futbol") guys from Univision. I wouldn't understand a damn thing, but it would be better than listening to the guys I can hear...

Yes!!!

Now that was a game

How 'bout my boy Max Talbot

The tending wern't so bad neither.......

I think the Pens showed a lot of character to come back, in Detriot,
down a goal in the third. And then to survive to get the win in the third ot

What a night! NBC is better than vs, but Emerick and McGuire might as well be philating the Wings. Wait, they were, for 6 periods.

It would appear that the Joe Louis Arena ran out of Geritol at the end of period 3...

I would say that I had a feeling the Guins would prevail in a long overtime due to their younger legs. I turned it off at the end of regulation.:

Not true, somehow they managed to get their supply. Speed from both sides in ot was impressive and very surprising from the Red team.
First period and most of the second was almost the opposite of the game before - with Pittsburgh dominating and RW at times looking bad. Third was all Red.
I ended up listening to the third period on the radio - Westwood 1 Nhl coverage. The guy is very good who announces, very exciting. If you want to watch and listen though you have to figure out how to delay the radio by about 15 seconds because it's ahead of the tv broadcast picture - just like baseball.

Detroit should have won that game. They killed them on the shots:

58 - 32.

Unbelievable that the Pens would win that.

But I'm happy that they did! We get to see more excellent hockey on Wednesday.

Pens got the shots that count, one more than the Wings.

The odds have changed a little.

I wouldn't bet the farm on it:
