Actually, your loser team wasn't enough of a loser. icon13.gif We were hoping for more than a #11 pick for Varly. duck.gif

For a while, Avs had a better record than the Caps.

JohnL, you got that collapse you wished on the Pens.

I was rooting for a roof collapse. I'm no fan of the Flyers, either. Or their fans.

I know, I was going to laugh if the Caps' regular pick was better than the Avs'. Our guys are still a bit young, I think. Varly had a bit of a fall-off in the middle of the season, but ended so strong. Thank you, we like him.

Crossing fingers for free agency this summer, a couple of good additions, and watch out next year ...

I HOPE Dan can adjust their attitude by puck drop Friday!!!

I got home from work in time for the 3rd period, 3-1 when I tuned in. No way not to lose when they played the whole 3rd period in the Pens end.

Despite being a Caps fan, I've been rooting against them this year. Time for the powers to be to finally realize that a change is needed. That was clear to me last year after the TB series debacle.

To strike back at LHC. Pens vs Flyers? Rooting for a roof collapse. Edit: or a meteor that splits in two sparing the middle of the state. Blue Knob is a mighty fine area, if I do say so myself. beercheer.gif

Complete knowledge of the Capitals complete schedule and results hardly qualifies as "hockey cred"tongue.gif  They still sucked the first half of the season.  Are you still rooting against "The Craps"?  Bruins are my second favorite team remaining behind the Rangers.

SRSLY though, just hoping for lots of exciting hockey.  I'm disappointed that I missed the debacle last night.  Wednesday nights are the family night out.th_dunno-1[1].gif  I still wouldn't bet on Philthy this year.

Well we have that in common. I dislike the Flyers even more than the Caps. Caps never win anything important.roflmao.gifPhilly is always a threat. Pen should never get up on them early, they always seem to blow a big lead. I was going to refrain but since Pen's fans follow Crosby's lead I gotta whinerolleyes.gif about the officiating....never mind. It is what is is and the Flyers dominated 2nd 3rd and OT.

No, but I'd expect you'd notice starting 7-0. Pretty tough to miss, even in NC. They do have Internet access and newspapers down there? Must of been distracted by carpetbagger Karmonass. duel.gif

Just got back in after a day of boozin' attending the Nat's home opener. Won on a mighty walk-off passed ball. But hey, a win is a win.

Back to hockey, Caps just lost to the B's. Caps match up pretty well against the B's, as evidenced by tonight's game and the reg season results. Bruins are on of the few teams the Caps can skate with nowadays. When motivated, Caps can be tough (but the B's are nastier I'll admit.) With the roster turnover, Caps no longer can skate with lots of teams. Change from a few years ago. I still say Bruins in 6.

When Varly is on, he is on. Believe it or not, Caps ranked Holtby and a minor leaguer in SC higher than Varly (name escapes me right now). Remains to be seen if that holds true.

Only one teeny little tiny injury for Varly this season ... I think Giguere was a brilliant pickup, as a mentor and positional coach.

Holtby has been seriously impressive. What is it with Caps and these young unknown goalies in playoffs??

No problem. I'll admit during pickup hockey I love stealing the puck from players wearing birds who can't fly colors. And then scoring on their goalie. Maybe it's compensation, but hey, it sure feels good. biggrin.gif

Having a seriously difficult time deciding whether I'm cheering for San Jose or St Louis. This doesn't usually happen.

Looks like a goal tender battle so far, and a pretty damn good one at that.

My bosses are based in San Jose.  I have a Blues Hull jersey.  No problem for me deciding between those.. but I also kinda like the Hawks out west.  Of the remaining western teams, I'd like to see the Blues win simply because they are an old school franchise that hasn't won it before.

Of course, I'm still primarily pulling for the Rangers as long as they are alive.  They almost choked it away last nightnonono2.gif

Tough to root against St. Louis since their long-suffering fans finally have something to cheer about. Pretty amazing turn-around with Hitchcock. Plus they're a young team, so they should only get better. (Though it would be nice to see Joe Thornton finally hoist a cup. That will likely only happen in a trade to a serious contender, similar to Bourque.)

Like Charles, I'm rooting for the Hawks out West. Chicago is my second city (relatives there, plus I do an annual road trip there to see the Cubbies in Wrigleyville.)

My prediction is a 5-2 Penguins win tonight. They seem to have won a lot of games 5-2 over the last 6 weeks.

You're probably right about that. They should bounce back tonight at home although the Pens defense has looked vulnerable lately and Bryz and the Flyers seem to weather early storms and then clamp down. Should be interesting for sure. Playoffs in general have been off to a great start like usual. Best show going...

I say "do it"

I hope the boys can "get their mind right" and get back to the buisness at hand, dispatching the orange demon and resting up before the next series...

I've gone into this series expecting it to be decided in game 7. I would have preferred to see the Pens win game one, but I expected both teams to "steal" a game on the road. Now if they lose tonight, then I will be alarmed.

I think Pens will win tonight probally series.i am sure they did Yoga or meditation, things girly men do to get there heads out of there arses

Third period under way.

Wow. I did not see that coming!

That was insane, like an all star game with big hits. No D at all.

How do I hate the Flyers, let me count the ways. Deep hole the boys are in. Perhaps the Pens should spot the Flyers a couple of goals and see how they play with a lead. Gotta hand it to the team in the stupid orange jerseys, they know how to keep the Pens off of their game. Maybe the Pens should be less concerned about giving big hits and figure a way to cycle the puck.

WOW, I didn't see that coming either.  I really didn't expect the Penguins to lose again tonight.  I didn't see that late game feeding frenzy.  I have to ask though...  Is Philthy's offense that good, or is the Dirty Bird defense that bad?  For someone that didn't see either game I have to speculate that two late game collapses when things were well in hand after two + periods seems to indicate a conditioning problem.

Not sure if this has been posted on this thread, but something to lighten the mood boys. Lighten the mood boys.

I like "Where momma hides the Wheat Thins."

I think the Caps announcers Joe B. and Locker have used just about every phrase.

Good one JohnL, lots there I never knew but I kinda like the twisted wrister.

Charles,  I thought the Pens played better D but the Flyers capitalized on every, and I do mean every, Pens mistake. Flyers are very good on offense and seem to have the Pens figured out.
