I think they actually have a chance after the last two games. They are playing really well.
It appears they have finally burned out.

The best/hottest two teams remain.
Wings Vs Gwins (Guins that is)
It should be a great series.

And, just to show I'm a good sport:

The Wings are not tired, and they won't be tired on Saturday. Franzen hopefully will be back. I think the Wings are superior, but time will tell.

I'm content that one of my favorite teams made it to the final four and avoided being swept.
regardless of which team wins the cup some Bear(s) will be extremely happy:

It's going to be youth vs. experience. As I said before, I haven't seen much of the Wings including their playoffs. Hockey people say they're the best, their record says they're the best and they have home ice as well. The Pens will have to keep to their strong work ethic in both ends and not get caught up in the mystic of it all.

It seems to me that the Wings get most of their offense from their first line and what a line but the Pens can and do score from all 4 lines. The Pens have 3 of five spots in the points total in post season play, Wings own the other 2 spots.

It's going to be a good match up as both team rely on skating and skill. My prediction... as I said before, youth will be served. Pens in 6.

Franzen is on the second line and leads all teams in playoff goals this year. He also missed the entire Dallas series. Hudler, Samuellson and Filppula 13, 9 and 7 points respectively. Draps and Drake scored in the last game. The Wings may be deeper than one line. :

Wings in 5 or 6.

So, If the Wings sweep or win in 5 would it be safe to say that the Stars were better than the Penguins this year
:
I would probably pick the Stars against the Penguins.

I heard one of the Pittsburgh local sports radio jocks express his disbelief that the local Detroit papers put Zetterberg and Datsyuk in the same class as Sid and Malkin.

No wonder why Pittsburgh fans are confident. Their loyalty overrules logic.

4 to zero(should have been 5, but a bad call took away the first goal). Boy that Geritol does wonders. I don't think the kids have seen a defense like the Wings.

FWIW, Malkin looks real soft.

Pens were schooled, no doubt. I thought they played well in the first period but couldn't buy a goal even with 4 power plays. Taking penalties in the second took them out of their game. Inexperience showed on the first goal, bad line change and a costly turn over. Second goal too, Fluery's attempted pass to Malkin instead of clearing to the corner. It seems the kids quit after the first goal. All the Pens look soft, wouldn't even hit them with a purse.

Goalie interference was the right call, as right as any penalty called or not called in this league.

Pens better wake up soon or this will be over in 4.
Malkin has to be hiding an injury. He's been MIA for 4-5 games now.
No way. The only reason it was called was because Homer was the guy. By the way, it was the same ref that made the wrong call against him in the Dallas series.

Maybe, but it is the Stanley Cup finals. In 2002, Yzerman played with a blown out knee. Had to pick himself up of the ice using his stick. The Wings would not have won the Cup without him.

Wings fans attribute the opponents performance to the Wings defense. The opponents usually say they weren't playing well.

Most of the time the Stanley Cup winner is the team that shuts down their opponents offense. Most of the time it is team defense and goalie play.

Tonights game will be interesting. It will give us some insight into whether the Wings are a dominant team(even without the dominator) or whether the Pens had a bad night.

I think it is a must win game for the Pens. If they lose, the Wings will have them beat mentally, and it will be very difficult for them to win 4 of 5.
The way they were manhandled by the Wings on Saturday makes me wonder if the Wings really are that good. They were exceptional in controlling the game on Saturday night -- yet their first two goals were the result of Pens errors, not Wings brilliance.....
That is pretty typical. Reminds me of New Jersey in 95, except the Wings have more offensive skill. The Wings will take advantage of mistakes, some forced some not. They will also score goals on sniper type shots. Hanks goal was nice. Lidstrom's goal(robbed) was a unstoppable shot.

Sammy's first goal was a bad defensive play, but it was a nice wrap around. I think Fluery was worried about Drake crashing the net. That slowed him down enough, so he did not get to the opposite post quick enough.

3-0. WAAAAAA.

What a cheap dirty team. I just lost any respect I have for your team. The punches to Franzen head were uncalled for. I can't wait for McCarty to get a hold of Roberts. Not only were they cheap, they were stupid. All the Pens need is for the Wings to hate them.

Get out your brooms.

Pens not showing much

Much as I'm pulling for the Pens (just cause I'm always one to root for the underdog), I don't see this going beyond 5 games tops. Detroit is just playing textbook hockey. In fact, in some ways, it's a rather disappointing series so far. I thought it was going to be much closer and better play from both sides. After the first period in game 1, the Pens haven't come close to figuring out Detroit. And Detroit is just playing lights out. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

If Osgood can steal one in Pittsburgh, especially if it's game 3, then this series is done. Pittsburgh needs a big win in game 3 to make a series out of this.

Last aside: it is a referee's discretion, but he did have his stick in between Fleury's legs, but Fleury was outside of the crease. Could have gone either way, IMHO.

Two games do not a sweep make but can you say embellish? Roberts took a cheap shot but give Franzen an Oscar, one for Osgood too. Stupid plays, no doubt and penalties deserved so get over it, it's hockey.

Do you think I care if you respect the Pens?
No, but your team is stupid. Take some cheap shots and give the Wings more motivation. They let Nashville and Dallas back in the series, the Pens should have quietly left Detroit, and tried to get back in the series.

Franzen just missed 7 games with a concussion, Roberts intended to injury him, and should be suspended. Ozzie may have embellished a bit, but Sykora and Malone were stupid to give him the chance.

You are right it is hockey. The Wings will only retaliate when it works in their favor. That is frustrating for the Pens I am sure.

As Messier said, the Wings are beating the Pens in every phase of the game. It is going to be a short series.

The Wings are beating the Pen in every phase of the game, I agree. I'm just stunned. I can't see how getting the Wings mad could be much worse in fact it maybe the only way the Pens have to get the Wings out of their game.

I'm not embarrassed by the Pens venting frustration but I am embarrassed by Therrien crying about the officiating. Sort of reminds me of you.

Hey, I gotta get to bed so I read your witty retort tomorrow.

Oh by the way, it's not my team. Its Mario's team, I'm just a fan.

We'll be in New York next March and would love to see a hockey game. What are the chances there will be a game on in New York? I know March is late in the season. If so, when and where are the schedules posted, and would there be any chance of getting tickets?
Yup

Funny, your 21 year old is blaming his play on being tired.

I am marking them.

It's a good thing that the Rangers have a bunch of old Penguins cast offs otherwise they'd never score. We'll just have to sic Gary Roberts on their defense. He's old enough to stay up late.

Looks like I may have been right.:
