Edge rust and storage?

I've waxed my skis for storage already. I'm headed back to school to a non-skiing climate and will not be skiing until at least November/December. Just did your basic paraffin waxing without scraping to protect the bases for the summer.

My question involves the slight oxidation/rust that I'm seeing on the edges. There isn't a ton, but I'm sure it came from just not adequately drying after skiing each day. Will not doing anything about that cause a problem for me over the summer? Can I simply ignore it and just brillo/scotchbrite it out before I ski next winter? Or, will it get worse as the summer progresses? Will the wax that's currently covering the edges from my protection-waxing make the problem worse or not?

There is no way that you can accidently ruin (or even hurt) a pair of skis from storing them wrong for the summer. They'll be fine unless a flood floats your house away or a fire burns it to the ground! Storage wax them and stick them in a closet. 2 1/2 minutes of actual skiing will harm/wear your skis far more than six months of sitting in a closet!

I have read posts here from people that lived in humid or coastal areas that said their edges rusted even with wax on it. Unless the edge is encapsulated it may not form a perfect seal/barrier and moist air could get underneath between the wax & metal.

Don't store your skis at the beach house!!

I do live on the coast...

My skis will form a little rust over the course of summer storage (everything, including stainless, rusts on the coast). Because of this reason I don't leave the wax on the edges as I've noticed that if I do leave the wax on, they will rust even more aggresively.

In the middle of the summer I will take out all my skis and gummi the ones that need it and that's usually enough until winter...I don't stop skiing until June/July and start skiing usually around the end of October, so some of my skis don't sit idle for too long anyways.

Another curiuosity is that some of my skis will rust easier/faster than others.
