Hmmm.... some people are making an erroneous assumption based on the original poster's screen name... Yes, I do race some, but I'm not sure I am most accurately pigeon-holed into the "racer" category. I'd say I used to be a racer, and still do beer league and open entry type public racing, but it's definitely not what I live for.

I think Bob Peters nailed it best... bump skiers are just unfortunate to not be able to ski at the right ski areas. When I go out west, I ski at Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee, Snowbird or Alta.
I've never had any problem finding challenging and interesting terrain that wasn't bumped up.
I'll be at Squaw and Alpine next weekend.... unless the weather changes pretty quick, I might be in for quite a bit of moguls. If that's the case, fine. I have a feeling I'll be ok...
