Boyne Mt - 3rd Annual Adgate Trophy

This past weekend my arm was twisted to go to Boyne Mt for the Adgate Trophy.
To be clear, I did not race!
I, however, was a witness to some beautiful skiing, and seized a photo opportunity during the awards.
1st and 2nd place in the GS event on Saturday

U.P. Racer, I would like to thank you for encouraging me to head up to Boyne for a meet up.
Kneale, as always you are a gracious host on your mountain. Thank you sooooo much for your generous hospitality.

Thanks for the pic, TC! That was just about a perfect ski day, wasn't it? Absolutely beautiful.

Now we know why it's called the Adgate trophy... Not only does he host the event, but he always wins!! Oh well. I don't mind losing to a guy like that. He has a pretty extensive racing biography. Super nice guy, too.

The funny thing is, Pete told me his goal was top 10, and he got exactly 10th! Hell, good thing he didn't set a goal to win!

You're very welcome! Thank you for including me in such a wonderful day!

Cary is truly one of the most genuinely humble people I've met in the racer groups I've been around.

UP, you and your lovely family are top notch. Any time you get back down this way, you have to let me know.
All of the pics I took are on my facebook album, so copy away if you want them. Use the Image location to post any you would like to post.

If you want the pics in full format, pm me your address and I'll get you a disc or a pin drive, with them.

One thing I'm truly ashamed of is the fact that I never got pics of your wife and daughter.
Give all of them my regards.

Congratulations to U.P. Racer - 2nd place Adgate Trophy GS

Congratulations U.P. Racer on finishing 2nd at the Adgate Trophy GS race at Boyne as part of the Michigan Challenge.

Finishing 2nd to Cary Adgate (2 time Olympian 1976 & 1980 - 6 time national champion) www.boyne.com/Winter/Ski_Ambassador.html is pretty impressive. I heard that you were less than 2% (0.5 seconds behind Cary Adgate 27.0 seconds) behind Adgate. It is amazing that Adgate has 75 points on the current 2008 USSA SL points list at age 54 http://services.ussa.org/USSATools/p...nSubmit=Submit

Where will the results with times be posted - MACC, etc.?

Did anyone else from EpicSki race in the Adgate Trophy GS or Everett Kircher Cup SL? How did they do?

Do you or anyone else know of any folks who attended the Fall Ski Racing Summit that Adgate hosts in Sep/Oct at Boyne? I am interested in any attendee notes/trip reports about the ski racing technique & video analysis presentations/seminars by Finn Gunderson and others.

Wow. I knew he entered a few USSA events this season, but 75 points is pretty solid!! Especially since he was of course starting at the very back of the pack. He told me early in the season that he was going to enter some events this season to ski with his kid. Fun! Not many people can do that... He can still freakin' rip. After retiring from the pro circuit, he didn't even ski for probably 15 years or so. He made a comeback in '04 or so??? Then in '05 he went to Masters Nationals at Big Sky and won GS and SL by fairly large margins. Not just in his age class either.... Overall.

I don't know of any other epic members that raced that day, and unfortunately I can't help you with the camp either, but I know that Cary works with a lot of FANTASTIC coaches.... Rob and Michelle Bergquist and Pat Buron (Michelle's dad).

Thanks for the congratulations!

UP, you were clearly on your game Saturday!

I'll admit that, though I knew who adgate was, I was not as knowledgeable as I am now. Truly an amazing individual.
How does it feel coming in second to him?

Did I mention that I'm really happy you convinced me to head up to Boyne for the day?
Wow, it was a fun day!

It probably doesn't feel quite as good as if he would have come in second to me!!!

Pretty damn cool, though.

SkierScott,

They just posted the RESULTS of both the GS and SL, along with an article on the last page.
