Ah, yes, I can see this turning into a regular one
(Since a couple of others have suggested that my name has to do with dressing up)
The story goes something like this...
Back in the 1970s (or possibly early 80s), there was an Irish racehorse, which was called "Wear The Fox Hat". The name was a bit of a joke, but it was passable in Ireland.
Michael O'Hare (real name) was a famous horse racing commentator from Ireland, who, like all racing commentators, spoke extremely fast, and like many Irishmen from the countryside, had a very strong accent. Occassionally he commentated for BBC TV (British Broadcasting Corporation = One of the national TV channels in the UK).
After the first live televised race featuring "Wear The Fox Hat", where Michael was commentating, the BBC was flooded with complaints, to the point that the horse owners were ordered to change its name, or it would be banned from racing in the UK.
You see, when a strong Irish brogue says "Wear the fox hat", it sounds a lot more like a question regarding the location of something, namely "Where the f*cks that?"
So, in an attempt to show my origin, I chose a username which was both Irish and humourous.
And that is the reason behind my name.
While we're at it, a new member joined recently with a name of "norn iron", which may have confused some. This is actually the colloquial way of saying "Northern Ireland" (again, it sounds best with an Ulster brogue)
