Boot Center or True Center?

I have always mounted boot center but some argue true center is better.

Thoughts?

I believe that this has been discussed extensively over at TGR. I'd search and give you a link, but they are down right now. The general URL is http://tetongravity.com/forums/forum...daysprune=&f=3

Tried 183 Gotamas on boot center mark (top graphics) - liked what they do. Bought 190 and mounted them 1cm forward of the boot center top sheet mark - like what they do. Some people say that top sheet mark is bogus. So, I guess, within this "bogus" error it does not matter that much.... Tried 184 Mantras on boots center - nothing unususal....

Addition: Better for what? Park and jibbing - probably yes. For all mountain skiing - probably not...

FWIW, asked a similar question a few weeks ago, got plenty of links, so do a search. Also talked to Volkl, they said neither mark is very exact, recommend 768 mm from the tail on a 183, which is near boot center, puts the boot BOF behind measured center of running surface, but not by a lot. Ski center is for park and air, will put your BOF actually a little ahead of running surface center, not what most want on a powder ski.

I have an 07/08 Mantra which I use for crud and smaller dumps and I mounted it 1.5cm back based on the TGR recommendations.

Im very happy with it. I demoed it both ways and on the line makes it a better hard snow performer and if you ski switch or like spinning that would be the way to go. If your looking for a powder board and/or you like to ski really fast, going back a bit is my recommendation. Keep in mind 1-1.5cm is not going to make a monstrous difference, but it will change the performance slighty.

You have to stay on top of them more mounted back, but that is just how I ski. If you are lazy and you mount them back they will tend to get away from you.

But for me 1.5 back makes them a sick all mountain-curd-powder board in CO, you can mach down groomers and they are nice and stable, and this mount makes them MUCH better in depper snow, helps keep the tips up.
