youth/junior boots

My 10 year old son is a nice solid skiier on his slalom race skis but has been using rental rear entry nordica kids boots. i just bought him, on e-bay, a near new pair of Head world cup ski boots, (cool bright yellow), and they fit his foot great. However he is a little guy---about 75 lbs, 4'6" tall and I am concenred about their weight and height. Any thoughts?

First, make sure the shell fit is good for his foot length. When checking for proper boot/skier flexibility, watch his knees,hips, and head/shoulders. You want his knee tracking forward, hips moving up and down (not back), and shoulders/head not bowing forward. Remember, this boot will stiffen up in colder temps, allow for some leeway.

Thanks;
Should I be concerned with the height of the boot up the calf of his leg?

Yes, most definitely. Maximum height should be mid calf or lower.
