Icelantic 08/09 Range (pic)

Scout: same 143cm length
Pilgrim: same 151cm & 169cm lengths plus a new 179cm
Nomad: same 156cm & 168cm lengths plus a new 181cm
Shaman: same 161cm & 173cm lengths plus new 184cm

Superb quality graphics as usual from Icelantic. I wasn't sure of the design at first compared to last year but they've really grown on me in the last week or two. And they look even better on the skis than in the pic.

Thanks to schussboelie for hosting the pic.

spyderjon, will these be going to the Tignes Ski Test (formerly known as the Atomic Boot Camp) in the autumn?
They will be in Val Thorens between 19 and 25 April and in Tignes from May 1-4.
They will also be in the Reschenpass/Ischgl/Samnaun area the first week of April.

Teh latter two in small numbers though

Foxy, They'll be at the snowHeads EoSB at Val Thorens from 19th-26th April. The official test is on Mon 21st but the range can be accessed during week by special arrangement . We'll also be doing the Xscape tests & hopefully a Chill Factor in the summer but not much space there for these babies.

Not sure if we'll will attend the Tignes Autumn test yet but it's a no for the PSB/Ski Mondial event at LDA but I believe Icelantic will be there via the French distributor.

I'm always tempted to buy pair just for the graphix in my livingroom.

I was just saying that yesterday! If I don't like the Sahmans, they would look great on the wall

Icelantic are saying the same dimensions as last year but we only have demos at the moment in the new longer lengths. The longer Pilgrim & the longer Shaman are the same but the 181cm Nomad that I have is 112mm underfoot versus the 105mm of the 151 & 169 lengths so this could get tweaked.
I have demos arriving tomorrow for some of teh other lengths too.
i'll do some measuring over the weekend.
Please test those new lenghts and report back Really tempted by that long shaman over goat or bro..
Interesting reagarding the Nomad, 140-112-130? Something other than the waist will have to change. If the Shaman is 110, That doesn't seem to make sense.

I don't get the need to go longer with these though. I never seem one post where the skier felt the Shaman was too short. MAny say they want a longer ski but they haven't demoed them.
I agree Finndog, that's also why, and I'm really sorry Grook, the 184 Shaman is one of three demos I don't have.
I do have the longer Nomad and Pilgrim.

Jon will have to come up with the review of the Shaman.

Schuss, When you get the new Nomads, Please post the dims.
Jon/Schuss - any chance you could take them from VT to Tignes for 26/27 April? A few of us will be there that weekend.
Hey Fox,

I cant' make any promisses, it's not even sure that I'm gonnan be in Val Tho that weekend.
The Icelantic peeps themselves are though.
If I am in the area I might swing by, I'll PM you my email address so you can send me your contact details.

Are you in Tignes any longer than the 26th? I leave here the 30th to go to Tignes so if you're still around at that time I'll have some candy for you to chew on

Quite simple, really. We've been skiing our whole lives and we know what we want.

The 184 Shaman could be great. But why not a 192?

Most of us who buy big skis buy them because they're big... not almost big.

no dimension changes to the shaman besides length?
after taking a trip to france and dealing with lugging my skis and equipment around, i am thinking less is more.

Level9sports has the 151 length Pilgrim for only 299$. the price is right. i am tempted to give it a shot.

However, I am a little leery of the small length. nobody wants to get stuck with the wrong equipment on a good day. I am 5 10, 192 lbs. will the 151 length Pilgrim suit me? i mean i already have a pair of 169 length PE that i haven;t skied yet and a voice in the back of my head tells me maybe I bought a little too small. granted I seem to like smaller skis as i currently ski on a pair of 167 K2 Axis and 170 Salomon scream limiteds.

i looked at the website and i like the idea behind their skis. it does seem like a step forward evolution in the development of skis. I almost pulled the trigger on getting a pair of K2 Pontoons last season just to give them a try. however, i guess it will take some doing to changing the way people think-including people like me.
I think maybe you should get the Pilgrim one size bigger, the 169...
i am intrigued by the price more than anything. if they sold longer length skis at that price or if the price was any lower to be a "throw away purchase", i might jump all over it anyway.....

that's the thing I am trying to wrap my head around. according to the testimonials and website stuff i have gleaned on the web, these smaller length skis have the running contact of much larger skis. i like the maneuverability of smaller skis(lower swing weight....). I have never gotten on ski boards though. they look way to unstable for me.

of course, the last thing i want to do is drop off the edge of a bowl with not the right tool for the job on my feet......i;d hate to be staring down some skied off catwalk or traverse on skis not stiff enough to find an edge either.....

Samuria, I don't know if you have skied these and whatever works for you is what you should ski, my point is, and I think the folks over at Icelantic would agree, this is a different kind of ski, I can see if you are hucking big drops for added tail but I think you would be suprised how these ski perform. It's not just a fatter ski, it's really a new kind of ski.
