Any bears going up this weekend??

This is usually just an excuse to drink a lot of beer and hand out beads to morally casual women….::

But.. The weather looks pretty good... :

No, even though we've done highlands and the zoo bar the last 5 or 6 springs. Boyne makes it very difficult to continue to do business with them.

I hear there'll be a rockin' party at Crystal this weekend

Crystal is having the Jiggle Jump this weekend. Who can resist Green Jello on St Patty's weekend!?

Morally casual women and Jiggle Jumping.

I really need to be in Michigan this weekend:

Is this going to turn into a thread about Bears with Beads?

Actually, the last time I was at Boyne for the festival weekend, it got pretty wild, while Crystal is slightly more family oriented

We are skipping the Crazy Days but will be racing in the downhill at the Highlands on Sunday! Seems like there has been a family challenge thrown out there. I (Dad) was still the fastest last year but I'm facing some pretty stiff competition from my 15 year old this year. Don't tell him, it would be an honor to lose him. He has really worked hard this season.

Well, the Carnival weekend at Crystal mountain, known as the Jiggle Jump, was a sleeper.
In years past they had tons of contests and activities, but this one was cut back in activity and participation.

The good news for those of us who were skiing is that we never saw a lift line all day. The bad news is that the main parking lot was bare bare bare.
All day long you could hear people saying, "Where is everyone?"
Common answer: Boyne!

The news said that Boyne saw 7000 people and had several arrests.
There must be a TR there somewhere!!!!
Give up the goods!

The Boyne event was smaller than in most past years. Crowd around the halfway house didn't get to the middle of Victor. Arrests were way down. The amount of vandalism still was considerable.

Because of the warm temperatures on Thursday with the freezing temps Friday and Saturday, slope conditions were very hard. It was pretty cold Saturday too.

Highlands

We drove up to Boyne Highlands on Saturday. They had activities for the family, but my son and I were too busy having our own fun on Disciples.

There wasn't any wait on the lifts, even when we ventured to the front. Great weekend for skiing and it looks like Dad (me) might be able to squeeze in one more.

I suspected the numbers were down, when I looked at the photos on the web site.
As I said, the numbers were low at Crystal, too(I heard 19% capacity, with marginal reservations for spring break week). My Husband said he thought it was likely that fuel prices had some impact.

Welcome Petri!
Make sure to let us know when you're heading north!

I live in Ann Arbor. If I want to observe people drinking green beer and throwing up on their shoes I can get that within walking distance. Why on earth I'd want to drive four hour for that crap remains a mystery.

Caberfae on Satturday had a bunch of people in ridiculous costumes wedging the hill - I left at eleven, so I missed whatever drunkenness was to come later. Nubs (Sat afternoon & Sunday) was business as usual - nobody plowed into me dressed as a hot dog, nor did I see anybody vomit on the hill. Just the usual good skiers carving the front side. Yeah, it may be boring, but I'll take it over the ski ninny crap.

Walt,

You sure sound like you’re from Ann Arbor, with the arrogance, but a UofM grad would not make the grammar errors.

Sure sounds like you had a blast… I rode all day Friday and Saturday morning and the conditions sucked. The difference was that I got to have fun and enjoy some female skin on Saturday afternoon…

For the record… I didn’t see anyone drinking green beer. Considering the party is at the top of the hill very few people actually had shoes on, none of which had puke on them. I didn’t see one hotdog costume, nor did anyone “plow” into me….

To solve your mystery Walt, some people like to have a good time and enjoy themselves. Not everyone wants to go “carve” up the front side of Nubs when it was raining all week, and the hill was more reminiscent of an ice rink than a ski hill….

Regards,

Mr. Extreme Drinking….

You don't carry a pair of CCM or Bauers in your quiver?

It's not ice unless it's clear enough to see a fish through it.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
