McLaren appeal ruled inadmissable

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/moto...ne/7627941.stm

Well, on the the race in the dark.
Hmm, misleading headline.

I can't wait for this night race. Should be pretty neat. I look forward to the night SL on the WC schedule each year too.
Yes tis should be a fun race. Ferrari says this is a "no-passing" track. Let's hope they are wrong.

Appeal was pretty interesting wasn't it. Appeal denied because a stop-go penalty cannot be appealed. But last year they allowed an appeal under the same circumstances by Toro Rosso. Also, McLaren supplied tape-recording of Charlie Whiting saying that the move was "OK". The proceedings against McLaren were initiated by Whiting, so what changed his mind?
Kind of anti-climactic. Nothing is settled. They decided not to decide.

Huh... does Charlie Whiting agree? Better not pass any red cars then

Oh wait..... even if he doesn't agree now he might change his mind later

About to go home and watch qualifying..... but man, practice was pretty cool to look at. Just some spectacular shots. This needs to be in High Def!

Should be some interesting race strategies in play Sunday night.
Everything I thought was going to happen in this race has not happened. I'm not taking bets on the podium at this stage.........anything can happen!
11 laps to go and I thought I'd seen it all, then Kimi with 4 to go, Holy Shit!!!
That car is trashed!

Alonso is smokin!!! Unless he does something stupid, he's got it.
Too bad Rosberg got that penalty. He could have won without it!

Pretty good day for the boys from Woking. 6 more points from Massa and they take the lead in the Constructor's.
The lights system needs to go. Bring back the lollipop you dumbasses. SO super pissed off at Ferrari right now.
Did you see how much gas came out of that thing? They were seriously lucky they didn't have a big fire. What they really ought to do is mandate that car stay on the jacks until the rig comes out.

Don't own a TV.

do have a DVD burner and friend with ginormous TV.

epic: I was kind of surprised by the amount of fuel that came out, but it is a huge hose with valves that keep up with the tremendous flowrate. They also had all those problems with fires at Hungary.

Not sure how big the hose really is because there is there return hose and whatever else inside the outer casing. Still, like you said tremendous flowrate.

Yikes! I just realized something. What if Scott Speed were still in F1? He could have an F1 win now. It's pretty harsh that he got the boot when the car sucked only for it to turn around and become a contender the next year.
^^ I dunno about that, I don't think he's quite at the talent level of Vettel.
He's probably not at the level of Vettel. Maybe not at the level of Bourdais, but he'd probably have points. Anyway, we'll never know. He never raced against either of them, so who can say?

Not gonna comment much on the steward's decisions this time.... but..... they penalized Bourdais????? I had been thinking that that was a move the Schumacher could have gotten away with but not Massa. Guess I was wrong..... or maybe just confused.
Seriously.I went to bed thinking "What penalty will Massa receive if he gets anything?" It never even occured to me that they could be considering a penalty against Bourdais. I also don't understand at all why they investigated after the race when there were 23 laps to go, and then handed a time penalty which supposedly makes up for an in race penalty when there isn't time to investigate. I may be wrong here, but I think the only penalties that would have been applicable would have been grid penalties for the next race. Those wouldn't have netted Massa any points though.

Any way that you slice it, that was a terrible race for Hamilton. He did not have to screw up turn one like he did. There was obviously some other incident on lap one that we never saw either, because he lost a few more places somewhere before lap two. He's just lucky that Massa had a bad race too.

Canadian Grand Prix Dropped for Next Year!

Been a great year of racing, but this "its all about money" is really getting annoying.

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/racing...ory?id=3630361

Really a bummer. I was planing on going again.
Maybe the angle I saw missed something, but what the heck was Bourdais supposed to do differently? And last time I read the rules, "after the race" penalties were meant to be chosen when there isn't a half hour of racing left!

Hamilton went a little nuts into T1 eh. At a track where there are opportunities to pass, no less.
The Bourdais penalty is BS. A way to give one more point to Massa against Hamilton. Not that such things diidn't happen before, especially with Ferrari involved...

'08 Formula One Season Ends This Sunday

So what's it going to be? Will LH choke again? Will Massa dominate his home GP again? Will the FIA summon lightening out of the clear blue sky and smite the silver cars on the last lap? Will we have to wait until all the 'penalties' are sorted out post race to see who the World Champ is?

And what of next year? Will the series take another step towards being the IROC of the east? Who will Fernando drive for? Will Honda step out of the mire? Will Bernie go the way of Charleton Heston and loosen his grip as his hands turn cold?

Oh, and I never got around to asking; how did you guys like Leigh Diffy as opposed to Bob Varsha last race? I really missed the rapport that the three studio guys have but I did enjoy the forcefull style the LD brought and I thought he utilized Peter Windsor much better. I thought it kind of strange that Speed pulled BV off the GP for an auction in Vegas. Was this a trial run for LD?
Looking like rain tomorrow. That will make it interesting.
My money is on Hamilton. For all practical purposes he just has to finish in the points. Massa is the fastest but he has to win. Hamilton only needs 6th(I think).
Fool me once
Fool me twice
You can't get fooled again
Of course I'm 100% tifosi.
So.... was anybody expecting that?

Wow. Fillipe finished the race as world champion and then saw it go away.

What I want to know is how did the Toro Rosso go around the McLaren so easily.

I wouldn't necessarily consider that easy, but it looked like Kubica plowed his way through, possibly distracted Hamilton, and not to mention, Vettel is a HELLUVA wet driver. Did you see how hard of a time Hamilton was having keeping up with him?

I was really hoping Massa was gonna pull it out, and he had it until the final corner, if only Glock coulda held on a little longer. Ah well.

Well, not easy as in it didn't take any skill, but damn, it looked like LH missed a gear or something. Vettel went around him like he was a back marker.

Hey, didja read this?

"It was such a long journey."
-Lewis Hamilton, youngest F1 champion ever.
