Do these skis make me look fat?

I skiied for the first time last year and became addicted. I bought the full armor (boots, skis, etc.) last summer for East Coast skiing and have been having a blast on my own gear at Sugarbush and Waterville. I am going out to Vail for the first time next week to stay at a buddy's condo and I wanted to bring my own gear along...but I am not sure if I have the right skis for West Coast skiing.

I have Rossi VS Oversize TI (2006 I think) and from what I was told, they're really for hard packed East Coast groomers. If I am going out West to bakery-fresh pow, do I need to demo some fatties?

Thanks in advance, this is an awesome site. I've been lurking for a year, I figured it was time to join in.

Bring the Rossi's. Its not always soft out here. It sounds like you would like to ski them so go ahead and bring them. If you get lucky and get some fresh snow days then yes get some demos.

Thanks everyone, I'll bring them and hope that I can't use them. If it's a bit hard-packed, well, I saved a buck or two.

If you just started skiing, you will most likely be cruising the groomed terrain (not racing locals to the powder stashes) anyway. Unless you experience a miracle in skiing improvement, you wont be ripping the powder in the back bowls. I think that your trip to Vail will be a lot like the skiing that you are used to back east. Bring the gear you know... and demo fat skis if you find yourself becoming an expert powder hound while on your trip.

I disagree. Fatter skis will make you feel like a superhero. You won't want to ski anything else. Your Nordica's are what, 67mm in the waist? :
