The Vapor is among the better women's skis out there. For a balance of flex, forgiveness, grip etc. it has few peers and basically none at it's price point. My Cohort Katie likes it better than most of the Volkl ladies skis because it gives up little in grip but flexes better under the foot.

Just bought Watea's 167 and PX12 for the misses. Will pick up on Sun.

Thanks Jim!

I think I got your last pair of 167cm. Watea 84's! I hear Fischer is sold out of them in this size...strange that they sold out yet the 176cm. seems widely available. I hope you are right about the length for me!

Very nice deals on the Wateas, at these prices I could buy another of each! (and the thought crossed my mind). For anybody on the fence, look in Epic gear reviews; I've done a review on both skis, and several other guys have reviewed one or the other. They are great soft snow skis that border on 50/50 in some ways.

Jim: Thanks for the fantastic deals. Top shelf gear at pratically wholesale prices. You are the man!

I'm holding out for Watea 94s. I need a one ski tele ski quiver.
Damn it stop it! I have too many skis already. I do not need any more!

Most folks who typically buy 168-172's are fearful that the 176 is too long. The 84 skis short and the 176 is the right size for them but they are buying the 167 instead.

Mudfoot, He's selling the 94 for a great price now......

now then 101's.....

Trigger has been pulled!

Finndog:

You're right, Jim's current price for the Watea 94 of 50% off is already fantastic. Best on the net I could find. I just bought a pair of 186s from him. I have been looking for a new tele ski to completely replace my two old pair (hardpack & powder) for about a month and have done a ton of research and ski flexing. When I read a couple of recent reviews on the 94s it made me realize that I absolutely love the 101s I have been alpining on for the last two seasons, why not get the 94s as a one-ski tele quiver? The reviewer that called the 101s "stupid easy" in soft snow totally struck home with me, and it sounds like the 94s should be fun, fun, fun. The 94's description as the "widest 50/50 ski" clinched it for me.

After searching in every direction I finally came back to what I know and love, the Fischer Wateas. Get'm while there're hot!

Congrats. You will soon see why we (94 owners) are so vocal about their performance. Jim, where's my commission check?

In my case, it's a matter of storage - or lack thereof. Between bicycles and skis, our tiny DC apartment is awash in space-hogging sports equipment. Such is the price of living in a big city where space is at a premium.

That said.... I'm still looking for more skis. :

When I was in college I hung skis from my ceiling. Surely you have enough ceiling space for a couple dozen pair.

I just in from a day off and ran some sales reports, things are flying. Right now, I'm planning to run this item set until mid-late Saturday. The Wateas may not make it to the end but I think the Jets will. There has not been as much action on Women's skis from the first two offers.

There have been a few requests for intermediate or mid level skis and I certainly have very good ones to offer, but until the word gets out and SSD starts to get a life of it's own, I'm not sure whether it is worth it to do. I may try the boot thing occasionally, but my sense is that that's not worth it either. At this point, it looks as if I'll be able to do this twice a week up to about the end of April when I take off for the summer. If I have the ammo, I might do an occasional offer over the summer as well.

I've gotten a boatload of questions about model suitability etc. I'm going to do a general update on these skis later today but I've got a lot of cyber-paper to push right now.

Thanks to all that have contributed suggestions, support, item requests, etc. That is always welcome.

Sierra Jim

Sierra Jim,

I sure hope those 178 Watea 94s I just ordered from you are in stock. I bought a pair from Backcountry last week-end, and as luck would have it they sent me 186s, and no more 178s. So back they went : ((. I' m dying to ski on them.

Thanks for the great deal!!

If not for the fact that this apartment has low ceilings (7' 8"), combined with my height (6' 4"), I can't swing the ceiling mounts. Right now, my quiver is threaded behind the bikes in the 2-up bike rack. It's a tight fit.

Hopefully late tomorrow so I can make up my mind. I like the Watea but I am thinking the Nordica may actually be a better fit for me.

I pulled the trigger on the Wateas. Now I just need to figure out what I am going to do for bindings.
