See, now this pisses me off….
Chill? Open my mind? To what exactly? To being insulted by the likes of Yuki, or You-Pee? Or perhaps being cited a violation for defending myself against other personal attacks?
I am well versed on how forums operate, those that know each other from in-person contact will always gang up on the guy who no one has ever met…it’s the same old story time and time again. I know this, my skin is thick; its part of the whole internet open forum thing….I get it, its also the reason I have not yet contributed and become a supporter...I figure I am probably very close to getting banned; judging by how even the forum police is siding with those who toss the first stones.
But I digress, you and a few others seem to think that I am some self proclaimed ski guru, or that I claim to be some great skier…..I do not know where you got this idea from (actually I do have an idea; its your typical pile on). There are some people who take a shot when they do not even know WTF is going on, since they have not read previous posts and have not even taken the time to read all the posts in the thread they are chiming in on.
I am very well aware that my skiing leaves much to be improved upon…I never said it didn’t, in fact on numerous occasions I have asked where I can find instruction to help me improve. I have also asked direct advice on how to improve by specifying problems I was having. So your ‘advice’ is ill founded.
I do not need profundity; I can buy that from a book on philosophy. I come here to discuss and read about skiing, and try to contribute when I can. You will not find me giving advice in technique; I leave that to the pros and those that ski much better than I.
I am VERY well aware that there are superb skiers here and that there is much I can learn; otherwise I would not be here. That being said, no one knows it all. The best skiers in the world are in a constant state of flux and are learning and training to improve every day.
I really do not see why so many have a problem with me using my own money to buy gear that I will use, and gear that will protect me from harm. You don’t like my full face helmet…great….dont’ care. I am sure most of those naysayer also have not had their noses broken twice, fractured an eye orbital, had 16 stitches to their brow, two concussions, and broken teeth…and if you have had all that and more, and still ski open faced, well then hey, you’re braver than me.
All the sarcasm and insults, will not stop me from buying more gear and loving to ski…however badly I may do it, in some folks eyes. If you throw me off the site, guess what, I will still enjoy skiing. This site gets shut down, wont stop me, I will still enjoy skiing.
With regards to NASTAR, I am far from best, this I know, but I am good enough to have qualified for the Nationals in the Silver division. I accomplished this on only the 3rd day I skied this season, in boots I never wore before, and after not having skied since last January due to herniating a disk, and breaking my back and thumb.
So please, I like the joking and ribbing, but do not patronize me.
Oh, and I still want to race Yuki…..
I can share what Yuki said to me and I to him from the PM we exchanged regarding the topic at hand, but I don’t know if it would be proper forum etiquette. He basically gave me his answer, but still I persist.
