15 days, and counting..wondering if I should just go buy a lawn chair, and watch opening ceremonies..Is there anyone planning to go?

I'll be there.

I may, or may not, be riding a snowboard that day. If I am on a board, you better believe I'll be gaping it up.

Does that mean you will have to punch yourself in the face?

BTW, this weekend, Freeride competition and Steeps camp, I'll be there since Friday. Call me if you are around.

I got this on my e-mail today and found it quite funny.

I also saw a huge billboard in town last weekend. I'm glad I'll be 5000 miles away laying on a beach when this goes down, and back after all the hype has winded down. Or so I hope...
I'll give you a call Friday for sure.

So they are driving up there with a bunch of teenagers eh? This should end well...
I'm sure we'll be there "opening" weekend with camera in hand to see (document?) all the gaping.
I predict visions of Warren Miller's "Agony Acres" under lifts 1 & 2...and 4....and probably 7....
I am not looking forward to the bottom of whitefeather on the way back to lift 1. Major pile ups there, worse that I-70 on a powder weekend.
Taos, scrape it to the bone.
My prediction is that 85% of the boarders will not be carving 85% of their turns on 85% of the mountain. It will be a slideslip-o-thon of epic proportions. I hope it's icy as hell, which would up the percentages, and maybe most of them won't come back.
I hope it isn't icy...

10 inches tonight perhaps...
That sounds good for the Big Mountain comp tomorrow . My son is there to compete in it.
I was talking about the first day of snowboarding on March 19th.

I hope it snows in the next few days too, because I might be there this weekend myself.
You should say hi if you come this weekend. I'll be staring wide eyed at the comp.

Si...very cool. Wish him the best luck.

11 more days.....Mayhem
8 days...

I just got an interesting email that made my schedule kinda crazy. I'm going to be at Taos for the 18th and 19th, and then I'm going up to Ootah for the 20th and 21st, possibly 22nd, then perhaps Telluride, then back to Taos...
I hate you... Did you decide to board on the 19th or not?
hey simon, sorry I missed you over the weekend...long story.

I'm not snowboarding because a)My dad doesn't feel like mailing me my board (heh, i own one...weird eh?) and b)I don't feel like renting one
post #21 of 26
You own a board? wow, shocking!

I'm envious of your upcoming skiing schedule. The next to weeks I will be south of the equator, laying on a beach, eating great food, and staring at beautiful girls. But right now I'd rather be at the ridge or skiing Al's. Is that weird?

Maybe by the time you get back..I will be nuzzling some contacts :

With Garrett there, maybe we can get some good pics

TWO DAYS UNTIL RAPTURE.

I'll be at Lift 1 in the mornin' tomorrow with dookey, plan on enjoying it 'till the last drop.

D-day is here. This was posted on the Taos "Snow Report" page.

Yanno, I don't think I mind the thought of the snowboarders so much. What really bugs me is how much Taos is playing up to them-- big promos, lottery tickets for the first chairs today. What are they going to do for the skiers to keep THEM coming in?? What have they gained by bringing in boarders if the regular clientele goes away.

Eagerly awaiting Garret's TR.

Looks like he did some booting, to get where he is...Looks like the bottom of either lift 2, or 8..At least he is showing a bit of dedication..It will be interesting to see the TR's..
Personally I don't mind the boarders, but I have also never been in a area that had a bunch...
I had a feeling if I looked at the webcam, I would see a boarder..Sure enough..
