You Might Just Be a Gaper - Page 4

Are you sure?  Check your pockets.  Most of the coats and pants designed as ski jackets have a D-ring on a strap tucked inside one of the side pockets and not actually hanging off the coat or pants.  But, the strap is long enough so that you can then zip the pocket closed with the strap and D-ring sticking out of the top or bottom of the pocket depending on which way it zips.

Heh, TOTALLY a gaper, then.  I always thought those were for keys (well, they always are for keys in bags, so...).  I just stuck mine to the zipper pull of my side pocket.  It worked.  Flapped, yes, but that was gonna happen no matter where I put it.

I suppose I'll be a gaper til the day I die, and can't say I care.  I did, and in future will, ski in the parka I got on sale at American Eagle back in college, and the snow pants my mom wore for X-country back in the 70s or 80s or whatever (yeah, they fit perfectly and are in great condition.  And no funky colors :) ).  I don't care.  They get the job done and I didn't have to go out and spend hundreds on "ski" gear (nor do I have to find a place in my apartment to store all of it for the 363 days of the year I am NOT skiing).

Poster possibly recognizes that he may be a gaper based on the thread.

Poster confirms gaper status

Heck............I feel like a gaper when I have to put a lift ticket on.

If you wear a Jets jacket or any new school Patriots jacket... (old red "Pat Patriot" jackets are cool though)

If you can't ski powdah on 80's racing skis...

If you choose to ski on anything other than racing skis...

If you've ever chosen Okemo or Sunday River over another mountain when planning to pay full price...

If you can't ride a poma lift...

If you ski on twin tips you may not be a gaper, but you're definitely an inconsiderate jerk for sending rooster tails of snow right in my face.

If you ride a snowboard...

If it's sunny and you're not wearing Ray-Bans or Ray-Ban knock-offs...

I don't own any Carhartt gear but after reading this thread this wool wearing luddite definitely wants some.

The straps inside briefcases and other bags designed for keys usually has a D-ring with a clasp to hook through your key ring.  The D-rings in/on the ski jacket and pants are solid.

Seconded,  putting ON a lift pass sticker  at my new resort..even tho season pass  vs  ID card/arm band pass makes me feel gaperish  eek.gif

Sticking the pass on your goggle band copying racers isn't bad..tho just plastering a helmet with pass stickers is...bad drool.gif

You switch into your Recco-equipped jacket on a powder day.
