Anyone know if seeing the closing and or opening ceremonies are worthwhile if you dont have premium seats...or is it just better to watch on TV?
You know you're buying scalped tickets at this point, right?

Round 2 of sales starts in a few weeks.

Given that most events were oversubscribed in round 1 I'm not very hopeful there will be anything good ie skiing or opening ceremonies in round 2. I guess you never know, though.

In the "where there's a will there's a way" category...

After months of looking on and off, I actually found a condo in Whistler during the Olympics that only had a 3 night minimum (most, if they were free at all, had 7 or 15 night minimums). And it happened to be free during the Ladies' Downhill, the Men's SC, and the Men's Super G. So I booked it and bought tickets through Stubhub for the downhill, which, if Lindsay is healthy, could be THE event. After I forget how much I paid for those (not bad really--$275 x 2 + $75 service fees) I may get some for the other races. Stubhub guarantees you get in to your event, so I'm feeling good about buying through them. So WOW!! I am booked for the Olympics. Very exciting!

But I am already scared about the border lines...I wonder how long it will take us to get up there.

I won't be seeing any Olympic events anytime this generation....unless I could be lucky enough to score a volunteer gig when they come to Northern North Carolina or Virginia

Just Go and Have Fun! Despite all the hassles and and cost my 2002 experience was way more then worth it. I have memories that will last a life time.

It is also a great time to ski.

There were days during just before and during the Olympics that The utah resorts had more Employees on the Mountain then skiers.

That's what I'm expecting, too, given that there's no parking for day skiers during the Olympics, that almost all the hotels are booked by media and Olympic officials, and that (I'm guessing) most people aren't going to bring their skis with them to the Olympics.

Grandstand seat are pretty nice, especially since you need the big screen to follow the race.

At the SLC slalom, we were course-side (cheap tickets) for the first run.  After the run ended, we hung out looking for people leaving the prime grandstand seats who looked cold or had crying kids and asked if they were returning for run two.  We soon had primo seats from which to watch the second run.  Perfect day, two perspectives, and a good view of the medal winners.

I got grandstand tickets ("A" tickets). They were only about $50 more. We stood for the World Cup races there last year (you had to--only VIPs got seats) and that was fine but the Olympic crowd is going to be a lot bigger.
