Short list for a woman

My wife is also rediscovering skiing. This past weekend she demo'd 4 pairs. Of course the piece of paper with the notes is missing.

She is:

40
5'9"
150#
Level 8
Technically very sound if a bit dated. She's just discovering shaped skis; so her parallel skis are still very close together. She's got a new pair of Nordica Beast 10's that she loves.

We live in Michigan and she will ski most often at SE MI local hills with a few trips to Boyne/Crystal/Nubs each winter and at least one trip out west (CO).

She demo'd at Alpine Valley the following:

Atomic LT11 (160) stable, fast, carved well, a bit heavy
Volkl Attiva Luna (156) too soft & slow. decent weight
Dynastar Exclusive 9 (?) fast but really heavy, way too heavy

Knowing she liked the Atomics over the others by a considerable margin, what other skis should she look to demo?

TIA!

Come to Crystal Mountain this weekend and I'll let her try some of my favourites!

My first and foremost recommendation for that skill level and size is a Nordica Olympia Firefox 162
I guarantee that it will inspire her to make divebomber noises when she skis them!
A close second is the Volkl Fuego.

Thanks TrekChick!

I'm not sure when she'll be back up, but it won't be this weekend. I appreciate the offer and am forwarding this to her.

Thanks again!

The Volkl Attiva Fuego rocked my world when I demoed it. If it's around, I'd recommend she checks it out. I found the Fischer Vision Vapor to be very lightweight and happy to zoom. I haven't been able to get on the Firefox but from given the chance, I would try it in a heartbeat.

I have a nice Blizzard Eos, and a wave spice she can try too.

Maybe when you get up here I'll have my Bro's mounted up too!!
Imagine the fun we could have.

This weekend for sure I'll be at Crystal, because I have some obligations on Sunday that prevents me from getting too far away.
Some time in the next few weeks we're hoping to make a trip to Nubs with the Bumpfreaq. Look for it in the GTG threads!

Also, check with Sierra Jim, here to see if he can help you out on some ski ideas.
He treats the bears very well and has some women working for him with great insight.

BTW, this is a great deal on the Firefox!!!!

Hi trapps I second trekchick on the Firefox. She can ski mine when I get home if she wants to. I won't be back from Ketchum until the 9th of March. I'm at Holly. I have them in a 162 cm the binding is super simple to adjust. She can P.M. if she is interested. I'm there Sat A.m, Sun A.m, Mon. P.M.,Tuesday , Wed night, Thursday day. Did she demo from Shumakers? Did they not recomend the Firefox or the Conquer? Just curious. Let me know if she interested.

Yes Shumakers, at Alpine. I was only with her inside when she picked up the LT11, so I don't know what they recommended the other three times, just what she came out on.

Here's the list I'll give her:

Nordica Olympia Firefox 162
Elan Wave Spice 158
Fischer Vision Vapor 160
K2 Burnin Luv 160

Thank you all very much for the info!

Add the Volkl Fuego to that list too.

I'd be happy to join up with you when you get up this way, too.
