Snowboarder Dies of Injuries

Around 1 p.m. Monday, Mar. 4, a snowboarder, David Faber, 29, of Manhattan Beach, Calif., hit a tree on Round Robin near Canyon Lodge. According to witnesses, the expert rider was going from Downhill trail to Round Robin at high speed when he lost control and slid into a group of trees. Ski Patrol was notified and arrived within two minutes. They immediately transported Faber to Canyon Lodge, where paramedics were waiting, and rushed him to Mammoth Hospital. Emergency room personnel tried to save Faber. Despite their best efforts, he died of his injuries. - JDJ
