Quite sure helmie saved my life last month. Have been wearing one for two years now after mandating the kids wear them and feeling like a hypocrite because I didn't. If you haven't followed the broken humerus thread, I took a nasty tumble in a white out falling about 8 feet onto an icy cattrack from above. Broke my shoulder, and slammed hard enough into the ice to get whiplash and took a chunk out of the helmet. Quite sure my skull would have broken too. Never thought it would happen to me because of my "experienced skier" status (have skied since I was 9 and average 40-50 days a year.) You never know who's going to take you out---the proverbial idiot from behind, or the Great Almighty...It's cheap insurance, and while not perfect at preventing all injuries, what are you trying to prove by NOT wearing one?
