Regarding MAP: it typically expires sometime in February. But, your idea is still valid. Of course, that SAC price is well below the wholesale price, so I can't even sell my remaining stock at that price w/o losing money. It would be much better for them to sell to their dealers, and have them sold at a sale price through the shop retail chain, rather than clearing them out at SAC. Or better yet, don't change the graphic. That way, they can carry over the skis and don't get stuck with extra skis at the end of the year. How many people are going to want to buy the new 08/09's next fall with this glut of extra Mythics floating around? Probably 1/2 will end up either as new skis on Ebay, or slightly used, from impulse buys. Therefore, the 08/09's won't sell as well as they should.
Perhaps in the future, the distributors can ask SAC to wait until the following fall, when the gear is out of production (1 model year old). It makes more sense than seeing what we did this year, with current-model Dyanstar stuff up on SAC as early as December.
