TR: Lake Tahoe, CA 2/11-2/15

There has been very little trip report love for Tahoe on this forum so I thought I would share a report of my recent trip to Lake Tahoe. A friend and I drove up Sunday night for 5 days of skiing leaving Friday night. We hit Squaw on Mon & Fri., Alpine on Tues & Thursday, and Northstar on Wed. Overall conditions were pretty good at all 3 resorts. It was spring like conditions early in the week which lead to some firm icy conditions on Thursday and Friday when it got a lot colder and windier. Just meant we had to wait for it to soften up in the afternoon though. Of the three I think Alpine was in the best shape (thank you lazy people for not wanting to hike , or maybe it was the increased lift ticket prices). Its hard to complain when it had been dumping for almost a month ending a week prior to our visit.

Hopefully more snow is in the forecast because the holiday weekend will likely obliterate what good coverage there still is (combined with warmer temperatures). Speaking of which I have NEVER seen traffic like that heading up to the mountain as we drove back to the bay.

Pics here!

I'll be at heavenly March 1-6, hope conditions are good, gave up a terip to Utah for this (got a very cheap deal and buddy passes). But I'm sure it will be better than what I usualy ski.

Three feet of fresh are predicted for tonight, and we usually get a fairly large storm the first week of March. With excellent base and the snowpack already at 97% of normal, you'll have a great time. You might have to hit some groomers, but the bumps will be fantastic.
