Somehow I stopped getting emails that this thread was active <shrug> Back now - thanks for the comments

Schussboelie : I'm off to BigSky ESA and then Whistler <grin>.

Pete : that was the idea - I'm trying to get an idea of what I'd do to ski as slowly and compactly as possible down a reasonably steep slope. Ideally without braking manoeuvres.

josseph : Hmm, when you think about it, we often start our turns from the edge of the piste don't we - this could be a problem... We start at the edge and traverse but don't consider the 'mid-point' of a turn so we may start the turn too early in the traverse leading to asymmetric left/right turns?

I could be back seated - but I don't think that's what I mean. I'm not losing control (at least not in this situation). It's more about how a turn has a 'natural' apex-apex width and sometimes the piste is narrower than this. What then?
