Vail "red jacket" mountain tour?

Anyone have any info on the mountain tour at Vail? I think it's daily at 9:30, or something like that, and will allow you to cut lift lines (with the guide).

Is it worthwhile? How would it be for a group of 4 intermediate skiers?

It sounds like a good way to get to know the mountain, but if it's really lame, I'd just as soon get myself around on my own...

I did that my first couple of years at Vail (which was about 10 years ago) and it was fantastic. Great way to get to know the mountain. I highly recommend it!

i took it. it was worth every penny I didn't pay for it-
you cut lines and you can take off whenever you want.
what's not to like?

How long does it last? You could tour all day at Vail.

It's 3-3.5 hours, and since it's free, we may go for it. How big do the groups tend to be? Are we talking about 6-8 or 14-16?

We did the free tour of Blue Sky Basin. There were about 8 in the group, mostly intermeiate skiers. Met some nice people, skied with them for a few hours and we all had lunch together at 2-Elks Lodge before going our seperate ways.

Any Vail tour's worth taking, esp. free. The mountain's so big, you're bound to learn something. If it's not going like you'd hoped, I doubt they'd fuss if you decide to take off.
