I hate to bump this thread for this reason, but I figured a few of you had seen photos of Esme-lou and heard her story
Unfortunately we found Ez passed away on our porch on Thursday evening after coming home from work. She was 5. We aren't sure what happened. She began vomiting the night before but nothing seemed very strange after 20 years of dog ownership. She had been on a big hike with me on Tuesday and everything seemed normal. We have a few acres that has its fair share of rabbits. She's taken out about 20 I know of, likely more. We wonder if she got one that someone down the road had poisoned to get rid of. But we really don't know. She turned bad quickly. This was a hard loss for us. My last dog that passed, Maddie, was old, we knew what happened, and we were able to be there with her in the end. Ez has none of that. She wasn't old, we don't know what exactly happened, and she was alone when she died.
She was a shooting star. I found her in the middle of the road, in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere. She had a broken pelvis. We fixed her up and she overwhelmed everyone with her playful, spicy, sweetness, even a begrudging Dakota. And she left just as suddenly.
And she always had your back
