Who Rescues Who (or is that Whom)?

A funny thing happened on the way to move Uncle Louie's truck Sunday morning. We found this in the front seat!

We call her Spot...and yes we think she's a pit bull. She laid claim to the passenger side of our Nissan pick-up and liked it so much she hung out there most of the day. She was elsewhere on Monday and made a return appearance on Tuesday. She and Uncle Louie played fetch (that's UL tossing and Spot fetching, just to be clear!) and as you can see, she's one happy, vivacious doggy!

We're trying to make contact w/the folks we think own her but so far no luck, We're thinking of teaching her how to paint and refinish hardwood floors next, but by then she may tire of us and go back home.

In the meantime, we're having fun having a dog at the farm, even if it's just for a short time.

SugarCube,

I would agree she is a Pit Bull (probably a mix give looking at her head). I had a Pit Bull mix as a dog a few years ago (search backwards for pictures of Nina). Sweetest dog I've ever owned. Like "Spot", she was a stray, and forced her way into my house following an ice storm. We found the owners, but they really didn't want her back. I still miss her terribly (she died after a bout with bone cancer). You are fortunate to have Spot part of your lives, even if it is for a short period of time, and here is hoping she stays there!

After Divot went nuts again the other day when my son and I were preparing to go for a 'R-I-D-E', my son turns to me and says, "Dad, I think we've taught Divot how to spell!".

With very mixed feelings, we turned Spot--whose real name is Sadie--back over to her owner this week. She lives across the highway from us and somehow got loose while her owner was out of town for a couple of weeks. We became quite attached to our young friend, enjoyed hours of playing 'stick' with her and watching her swim in the pond.

We'll miss you, Sadie.

Remember me...?

…Millie!

I first appeared on post number 56 back in February. I wanted to say hello
again while I bump this thread and hope some more of my friends
show up. I have a couple of shots from an annual 4th of July parade I
go to with Don and Betsy back in a little harbor town in Maine.

Me with that stupid leash again…like I'm going to run off for something better?!:

I like to lean into Betsy in the back seat…I don’t think Don likes that much…but what do I care…I’m just a dog:

I think I’m going to start charging people who would like to take me home…just who the hell these people are I haven’t a clue?:

I asked Don to sit and stand guard as I take a break in the shade…he’s good for that kind of duty...oh...and picking up my poop:

Gotta go now…I have some wannabe’s around me…I just hate these lick fests but whatcha going to do?:

Molly

Here's a shot of the neighbors $600 'killer' hunting dog Molly. She spends a lot of her time with our Zoo.

She does this 'commando crawl' on her belly and makes little cooing noises at me. Strange but sweet....

She's Baaaaa-ck!

Yup, Sadie's back! Looks like either her owner dumped her at our farm or else he up and left (his place is empty now), didn't take her with him, so she found her way back to us. I don't get how people can do that to pets.

She's much thinner now so we're fixing to put some meat back on her bones, get her to the vet for a check, and go buy her a swanky new collar.

Sadie, we missed you and we're glad your back....home!

SWWWEEEETTT Nancy!

Don't understand why the owner wouldn't have tried to gauge your interest given what happened before, but glad she'll have a nice home and hopefully bring you many years of Sadie love

Wow, Sugarcube, she is so lucky to have found you. I used to be pretty leery of pits until I started volunteering at a shelter, where some of the sweetest, most fun dogs I've met have been pit.

JohnnysZoo my god, what are you feeding those dogs?? Time to get on the treadmill!

Desolation wilderness.

That hike we left from Meek's Bay and hiked to Rubicon lake.

I don't remember the name of the lake with the brown dog and me. Sarah and the black dog are on the ridge between Stoney ridge lake and Rubicon lake

Wow sweet my parents used to go backpacking there all the time, and they keep saying they'll take me, but we're just so busy! I really want to go!

Yes, they are indeed friends and he has to get carrots along with the horse or he gets jealous...

Purina Pro Plan. Yes we're members. The discount helps. There are 15 more dogs in the 'Zoo'.

Sammy is the largest, I think he's in pretty good shape for 13 years old. He's the alpha male dog and steals the others food. He's all about comfort. Simba, the black Chow Norweigen mix is 14, arthritic, the alpha female. She often eats Lady Bugs food (the Australian Shepard) to keep her in her place?

Willy Wonka, the chocolate labbish looking dog and Lady Bug can go for miles and miles.....

Where's the love for our CATS???

How about some love for our other furry creatures???

Hi again, it’s me…Millie

I thought it would be important to ask these cats above to
start their own thread and do the honorable thing and edit
this oversized fluff-bag picture outta here. The hijacking
cat Jong is lame Heck, I love squirrels but you don’t
see me posting them here.

Getting this thread back to dog subject…a little shout for all
my dog friends who like snow…its coming. I’m standing
in some of the white stuff last season where I spend
some time in Maine:

I also thought to show a yellow lab nearby who works
on a Lobster boat. For some reason Don and Betsy
spend a lot of time where the Lobster boat drops off
all these Lobster's with rubber bands on their claws
…I just don’t get their attraction and frankly I’m
a little jealous of all the commotion. Here is my friend
coming by the pier after unloading the boat:
