Now, that all sounds great, and I really want to blade downhill, but im SCARED. (ok, so Im a baby.) although, around here, the snow is often as hard if not harder than asphalt but I am just petrified, once on blades. Its rediculous, I spend all winter going downhill reall fast, come summer, forget it!
If i am going down a street, and get to even a tiny incline, I beeline it to the nearest phone pole (ouch, splinters), Mailbox (ouch, little red flags), or front lawn. (ouch, QUICK stop, grass stains on forehead)
For all the feats of daring-do I get myself involved in, Put wheels under my feet and I fall completely apart. I look like a train wreck coming down the st. I used to dance on roller skates, but I was YOUNG (er). And they made much more sense than roller-blades. they had TOE STOPPERS. This was good. these heel brakes are useless, I just spin around real fast (and out of control, baaad feeling.)
but maybe ill find an instructor or perhaps a money-grubbing neighborhood kid who can take some time out of being a hoodlum and show the old lady down the st. how to skate.
I have skated in a parking lot that had a pretty steep incline, but this was ok, as I could do really wide traverses, and keep practicing narrowing them, only problem is once you get going fast, you cant just STOP. THIS is the key, i think. I cant just stop.
Well, I really want to try Waterville access road. WVskier, is there much traffic? I wouldn't make a very nice hood ornament. usually not but if the summer resort traffic....
