Every time we have gone in March, we hit a powder day, either planned or by coincidence. They get some good snowfall in March. If you can wait until the last minute to plan trips, you can maximize your chances of getting in on the good snow. Of course, the March snows are intermingled with some periods of mild weather, so it can be a mixed bag (though some people prefer spring conditions to powder). Generally though, I have always enjoyed good skiing at Snowshoe all the way through March, no matter what the weather is like. It is usually a LOT less crowded too, and as Jim notes, the lodging rates drop pretty significantly.
