Crowds in East at that time usually low, although Easter comes early this year so could be interesting. In late March conditions will be better in northern VT, NH and ME, making for longer drive, suggestions include Stowe, Bretton Woods (for mellow skiing), Sugarloaf. Closer to NJ conditions could be more dicey and you'll want to look at areas with good snowmaking/snowpreservation for that timeframe, perhaps Okemo, Stratton, Mt. Snow, Killington, Sunapee? All of the last group have good mellow ski terrain.
Bottom line: Okemo (~5hrs)
