Should I dump my AC3s and P70s for Laser SCs?

Right now I seem to be having a Stockli craving, and I wanted to hear some opinions on the Laser SC (170 or 177). I Currently have a pair of AC3s (dont get used, used 3 times this season), and a pair of P70s (skis that only get used for my 1st few runs for warm up, esp on a SL race day). I really like both, but I dont really use the AC3s and Stocklis would be a nice trade off for the P70s. Would it be worth the trade? What do the Stocklis ski like? Thanks.

additional info: 5'7", 145lbs JII racer. Fan of super super hardpack and freshly covered bumps, and can move Racetiger 187s like 180s.

As an ex Volkl guy .... and an ex Stockli rep ... once I ditched my Volkl stuff ..

I'm on my third generation of SC's ..... but favor my old SL's ..... it's an ice thing even though they are both great on ice. I wish all of my life's problems could be that simple.

but in all fairness, I never did get any Volkl race stock stuff to compare it with, you had to engage in small animal sacrifice to get on them.

Stockli was light years ahead of Volkl .... or behind .... since they didn't sell out to mass production. It worked for me.

Quite frankly, is it worth it giving up your old skis especially if you liked them? I get all fidgety and spastic not having a back up pair of skis in the box.

I have plenty of skis, and I do love my AC3s, but they simply dont get used. That and my P70s dont get much use either, and I want something more lively to ski most of the time rather than brining 2-3 pairs of skis to the mountain with me. I figure that a 170 or 177 would ski like a lightweight rc, something that I would love to have.

I think I'm gonna do it. Does anyone know where I could get my hands on a pair to try out, or buy at a good price? This year's Laser SC's seem to be impossible to find. And does anyone want the AC3's before they go on eBay?

No Stockli reps here?

Know one well, but he's a bit far from you (just over 10,000 miles).

Thanks for all of the pm's, now I gotta get rid of these two. Hopefully I'll be on them by the end of the month.

Hmmm, unsure about size now... would a 177 be suiting? I want these to have a racecarving radius. Would 177 be too much for a freeski or should I be fine?

I believe Rogers in Lincoln still have them. I demo'ed them earlier in the season at Loon from the Stockli reps. The have incredible edge hold on ice and just want to turn turn turn! Too one dimensional for me. I skied the 163. You are looking at two ends of the spectrum with what you are skiing on now. I would keep the AC3's for crud/powder days. They would be much better than the SC's

When we do get powder its kinda hard for me to get out . I was thinking about simply importing a Crosstiger to replace the gap in the summer, or finding used Karmas/Bridges. Do you think that the livelyness of the SC was due to the fact that it was a 163? Do you think that a 14cm diff will change the feel?

Dump the AC3, get the Laser SC and next step up would be a Stormrider XL. Own both the AC3 and the Stormie XL (and the XXL) and for me although similar to the AC3 the XL is a much better ski.

My weight ranges between 155 to 170 ...... and I ski the SC in a 170.

I'm 5'7" 170lbs and I have the SC in a 163.
FWIW, Stockli recommends the correct length to be your height to 20cm less than your height - 150cm to 170cm.
Also, the 177 has a turn radius of 16m which is certainly nowhere near slalom ski stats.

Ok, I dont want another slalom ski. In comparison to a Volkl Racetiger Racestock 180, how easy do you think 177s would be to move? SCs are much softer, so should be easier, right?

I'm kinda pissed. 2 weeks and still no responses from most of the shops I have emailed. A few have said "We can check", but have yet to replied.

did you already sell the AC30s

only if you love em. Can't resell those Stocklis. Volkl always has a market though. But qk9 seems to love em. They are impressive looking but I've never skied them. Not fat enough
