Gaper risks life for internet fame - Page 2

Wandering skis? It's called gliding, much faster than riding the edges. Scary fast. Check my hand when I hold up the GPS. Still shaking!

what world do I live in?

the whole world around me is going insane.

A max speed of 63 mph does not jive with an average speed of 24 mph. I think there was one or were several errant data point(s) that gave an abnormally high instantaneous max speed.

Just watched it again. IT'S THE GLOVES, THE GLOVES I SAY. Too much wind resistance in those gloves:

You must be right . Did you notice that when he's holding up the GPS he's in a parking lot with cars going by in the background.

I think he was using Ghost's GPS, which shows over 60 mph all the time.

Not true! I gave the GPS to my daughter for the morning when we went to Mont St. Marie with a friend who doesn't ski much. Her max speed for the morning was 49.5 kph. It was her first day skiing this year. I was very good and resisted the temptation to speed ahead as much as possible and my max speed for the afternoon was only 93.6 kph (stayed on blue runs except for a mild black near the chair where I just had to take a little short cut).

I see this EVERY night. My guess 30 mph at best. The skid gives it away....the fake jump made me laugh....he might think he got 1/4 mile of air....

1) he was having fun.
2) no safety issues as far as I can see...Except maybe to the camera man becuase I would bet this guy couldn't buy a turn--thus the skid?

He is open to riducule because he posted his "speed".

Damned, this makes me want to do a "Youtube" rant like that kid did on Brittany Spears.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, sob, sob .... you, you mean bastids. Leave that poor gaper alone. You need lives you pathetic pods of protoplastic gel .... can't you just leave him alone.

:thank you!

yeah yeah yeah

This feed makes me want to get out the camera and show somebody what a true bombing run is! Ok I know this guy wanted to play with his new toy and show off his "no poles=gorilla stance" skills, and freshman-bag-syndrome backpack. He may very well have hit 60+ beyond that end drop off you see at the end of the video, but while he's on camera, maybe 40 and that's being generous. People should post stuff that actually helps the believability of their claims and they might avoid the verbal harassment seen here...

Haha, do you think he knows his run is being discussed in detail on the world wide web? Dude is famous.

Yeah I threw in a couple carves and some air just for fun. Hey in 1930, the record was 65mph.

Hey! Don't knock the Gapers. If he skied 62 mph then I skied 120mph yesterday. Do you guys/gals have any idea of how FAST you'd look next to this Gaper. Gapers are great for skiing............. Well damn guys you all owe me a beer, I skied 120 mph today..................... ...And I didn't use my poles............and I did this feat on an intermediate double diamond to gain all that speed............ guess what I am going to do tommorrow...............?
