Watching a beautiful sunrise in my rear view mirror as I haul a$$ across Nebraska.

A free wireless internet connection in my motel room.

Buying a turn…..my new boots are sweeeeeet!

Taking note of these things, smiling about them and then rather than just letting them go, sharing them with my friends at epicski

Anybody else?

I got carded buying beer yesterday. This wasn't much of a pleasure because it wasn't a, 'I'm not sure if you're twenty one' type of carding but rather this particular store has a policy of carding anyone that doesn't have Parkinson's Disease...... and that, I suspect, only because Mohammad Ali has done quite a bit of PR work for them.

So I happily whip out my DL and hand it to the not unattractive woman at the cash register. She looks at it, looks back at me, looks at the DL then back at me again.

"Damn, you look gooooood!"

Hmmmm, well..... if her comment had been, "Wow, you look like you could rip a killer line down any face in AK." I'm not sure it would have made me feel any better

Ah, Seizing the tiny victories in life, like.............
The extra pickle the Deli gives you because he knows you could use an extra pickle kind of moment.
My husbands buddies calling me to go skiing
The smell of wax melting on a new pair of skis

Here's mine for today -- pulling into work just before sunrise and seeing a flock of snow geese rising from the foggy surface of a pond that's 100 yards from where the next fleet of presidential helicopters is being built. We work so hard to fly, and it comes so easily to them.

everyday is like that... You have to find solace the little awesome stuff so the big, annoying stuff doesn't make you a miserable, unsufferable bastard.

Making that first slice through some virgin powder and just hearing that hissssssssssss and the sound of your own breath...

Standing at the top of a cornice and looking out at the whole damn world just before you dive in...

Finding that perfect spot with a view to burn a heady spliff and drink that hot irish coffee from the thermos...

That freakin' magical click of stepping into a brand new set of bindings on your brand new skis...

Forgetting about that crap that happened back in the real world- you're skiing now so you might as well be on another planet...

Skiing is probably one of the best things you can do for your body and your soul alike. Pay attention to the little things, they keep you sane.

Returning to the slopes exactly one month after you got taken down from behind, causing a knee injury that you knew for sure was going to require surgery or sidelines for the rest of the season - and didn't. And spending that first day back on a brand spankin' new pair of Blizzard Cronus Titans. I guess I really double dipped one that one....

A long hot shower

I love this on all but the hottest days, it's wonderful just about any time. After you've been without for a few days......bliss

Riding peacefully through the state park on your bike commute to work, listening to the water of the reservoir, the chirp of the birds and the crickets and the spin of your bike tires underneath you. Feeling the cool breeze against your face, your muscles work to provide free transportation, knowing that for that period of time it's all you need to think about.

Doing shortswing down a smooth steep icy slope
watching ice crystals spray out from under my skis catching the light
racing me down the hill as time slows hypnotically

Drinking a good cup of coffee and watching the morning fog burn off over the water.
One of my favorite things

Taking my sixteen year old steel frame mountain bike for a nice lap in the evening, passing riders with new fangled full suspension bikes that cost way more and will last only until the next season.

Spending all day with my kids on the mountain, not stopping for lunch (pockets full of PB&J's), laughing with them on the lift.
